I'm so glad you didn't space frme it. You can see teh graft you've put in, the blood sweatand tears. You can see what's mini and what's not. It's a piece of art.

The snow hasnt thwarted my efforts to get on with the project so the plan today was to:
- jack up the rear
- lift the rear cradle and line it up under the car
- fit rear cradle
- fit rear coilovers
- fit rear diff
- fit pimping new diff mount
- tighten up rear cv boot clips
- fit driveshafts
- fit wheels
- fit arches
- take pictures
job done

However what actually happened

- jack up the rear
- lift the rear cradle and line it up under the car
- fit rear cradle
- when to tighten the cv boot clips only to break the tool - heres a top tip, dont buy cheap tools despite only needing to use them 8 times! Buy once and be happy!

Posted Image

- Then my mate dug out a floorboard lifter and with the aid of a vice cripped the cv boots after removing the driveshafts
- fit rear coilovers
- go to fit rear diff only to find out I hadnt cleaned it and I had cleaned the front one many months ago instead of the rear!

Posted Image

- cleaned the rear diff abit
- realised the rear diff couldnt fit around the rear cradle
- removed cradle
- fitted diff to cradle

Posted Image

Posted Image

- refitted cradle

Posted Image

- refitted driveshafts

Posted Image

- fit pimping new diff mount - realised the bolts were too long. Remove bolts cut down then refit.
- offered the diff mount up only to see that its way out. I mean what the hell! Standard sierra parts should fit together but they dont!

Posted Image

- Got angry for a while and scratched our heads as to how we are going to get round it!
- fit wheels
- fit arches
- take pictures

- then spent the next 30 minutes trying to find the tools that were scattered about the place!
- All in all a good day

However me thinks that the suspension might need setting up abit, but it looks much better with wheels on.

Dont get me wrong its not perfect in places but its getting there!

Hi there,

The project - cool idea.

I have got to say tho - I hope it is an awful lot lower once the motor is in etc, it looks like monster - mini

Also... got to say (sorry) the guards look terrible. I know they are functional, but.... they just need to look more tapered, and less blobby.

How ever like the others have said them wheel arches dont look right...

Could you not get some like cptkirks? http://www.theminifo...c/page__st__420

Or would they be a little small?

Good to see some updates on this build.

Like others, I'm not fond of the arches, but I would have gone for wheels with a negative offset to try and keep the track width low.

I say get the mechanicals sorted for now, and when it's driving, think about aesthetics.

moving along nicely, builds like this are all about personal taste so if you want wide tires and wide arches then stick with it :)

I can understand the wheel choice, they are cool, just needs to be on narrow suspension, or would look awesome on an escort.

I don't mean to put your project down, the 4wd turbo cosworth in a mini is awesome, just would be cool to look less modified.

I think Mexico arches would be perfect, if they could be used, being with a ford bits :-)
