Well I have been out working on it this weekend and I have taken a couple of pictures for you all. Theres nothing that different, but all the random holes have been welded up and painted over. Ive also sealed all the seams underneath and then its ready for waxoyling. Ive been internet ordering so hopefully things should be turning up shortly.
Ive split the engine, gearbox, diffs, drive shafts and will be working on rebuilding everything.
Although it was abit worrying that nearly all the suspension bushes were split and the engine mounts were broken aswell!!
Anyway heres a few pictures: My apologies theres no pictures at the end of the day as ended up applying sealant without gloves!

Been doing abit more today. I've got the whole underside seam sealed, doors fitted, boot fitted and front end fitted.
The front end has been dzus fastened, but it is touching both turrets and strutbrace on the underside. I will have to keep an eye on it rubbing. It was my intention to do the same with the boot, but all the holes were there so thought just hinge it and dig out the old lock. Im probably going to ditch the standard number plate light as it weighs a tonne and just find something more subtle.

Also manage to fit in the petrol tank mounts and seats so that everything is ready for paint.

So 10 points to the person who points out the most shocking panel gap! Lol

Also managed to fill up the old filler neck hole as I intend to fill through the rear window.
I now need to order all the seals and fit the perspex, then it's water tight.

I've been cleaning today, it's practically the last main component that needs cleaning apart from the engine and drive shafts

Before:

After

I might be tempted to lacquer it.

Although I have noticed a chunk missing out of the cradle, would this indicate that the drive shaft has jumped out although it is on the drivers side!

I might see about getting it welded up tomorrow

Bits have arrived in the post today, mainly a stack system that I managed to pick up on the cheap!

Posted Image

Although my intention was to use my apexi gauges with the original ford speedo but I don't know now.

Posted Image

I'm liking the stack system as it is compact but I do like my apexi gauges..... Hmmmm what do people think?

Oh on a side note if people know of any good painters willing to paint my mini pm me with their details as people who I have approached locally don't seem to want the business!

What advantages does the Stack have over conventional guages? If your going for the more classic look then the gauges but otherwise the Stack would look good.

The stack system is more compact really and does all the fuel pressure, oil pressure and temperature, water temperature. It can do everything apart from boost and exhaust gas temperature.
It's also easier to mount one item rather than the original ford item with all the gauges. The stack also does warning lights which are configurable between certain perimeters.

I think I might use the stack with the boost and egt gauge. I just have to see if the stack system works!

Hey, can I just ask what is the overall width of your mini now? (to the outside of the wheels)
