iv just spent the last 2 hours reading though all the posts and F1 mini i have alot of respect for the work that you do! its things like that, that i dream of. iv got a feew questions though.... what is it that you do for a living? and when did you start playing and forfilling dreams? id love to do what you do, infact its given me alot ideas and inspiration for a lesser mini but still a huge challenge to me.

you seem to know all the places to go for bits that iv never even heard of, is that just through experience?

and one last thing.... where do we get in the que to have a ride? and how much will it cost me to get to the front?lol

Gaday mate, the only time I charge for rides is on Charity Dream Rides days organised by Sporting Bears Club...

I've been modifing cars since I can remember, so contacts just met and pickup over the years. I'm a qualified CNC Machine tool engineer, I used to build CNC Lathes Milling and Grinding M/c's. So that's where most of the skills started, but I now work in the Food industry as it's more Stable and pay better..

What do you want to build etc. in the end of the day cars are only metal and Fibre glass mostly so easy to alter etc... you just have to have Vision or Dreams, problem being mine tend to be BHP/Ton related. So far have had two 400bhp per ton cars, and the mini will be a step up to 600bhp/ton....

This was my first step into the power game..... It's a KVA GT40

Then I built this...... and yes the Mini should be a faster point to point car than them both.......

Anyway I diegress ..... More progress on the axle. Mocked up where the diff unit will sit, and finaly made my mind up how much clearance I needed for the chain on the axle beem. So have now made all the brackets needed to start welding it together.....

The main De Dion tube is about 3 foot to long at present, but I will shorten it once the rest of the axle is full welded. The main plates that connect the tube to the hub carrier will have gussets to help with the side loading, and be filled in like this....

Parts all cut to lenght now and tacked together. Have put in place only to find the drivers side hub tube is to close to one of the chassis bars I've allready welded on. So need to move the bar up to make sure it doesn't hit the axle when it's on full compression. First slight misscalculation, easy to remady.

Only got 1" of clearance and need at least 2.5", so time to get out the angle grinder, my most used tool at present....
