Have started to make the bits for the De Dion Axle now, should have all the parts finished and ready for welding by end of next week. Just need the Diff to arrive before I weld them up, so I can check clearances etc.

Here's the first parts, the hub plates.

Went to Donnington over the weekend, and while I was there I went out in Lee Olivers white R1 powered Zcar Mini.

My first trip out in a Bike engined mini, was overall impressed with it's turning ability, but was not to impressed with how bl**dy noisy it was in the cabin, even with a Helmit on !!.

Alot of the noise seemed to come though the frame, and as the engine is bolted directly to it. Then that means I may have to think about bolting the engine with some sort of rubber/neaprine bushing to try and reduce the noise though the frame. Also I'm now thinking of a Roof to floor bulk head behind the seats, instead of finishing it at the level of the window.

The development carries on......

PS while I was there I did at least get the wheel studs and nuts I needed to finish of the rear hubs. Have now also got the T45 Tube I need for the De Dion axle....

Had a rest bite from the other projects today, so did some bits on the old girl.
Started the chassis mounts for the 4 trailing bars of the rear Axle, the n/s side is nearly finished

When cutting the ends of the tube for the trailing bars, instead of cutting them square the strongest way is to make the weld longer and not just in one plain, so it grips the threaded insert better and has less stress points. ( So I've been told, plus it looks better as well. ) So the 4 Bars now need TIG welding,
