Holly Hocky Sticks, This threads hit over 3000 Views. Better get on and start designing that front suspension.....

A good place to start is the "how to build a sports car for £250 and race it" by Ron Champion , the front suspension is a twin wishbone with coilover , I built my own from this design using CDS tube .

I'm using Serria uprights and that changes things alittle, as far as rack positioning bump steer etc. But yes I have the book, and have been on the Locost forum alot to find help etc. Nice bunch of helpful people aswell. Just means a few protatypes...

Yep !!

After some playing with wishbone lenghts last night I see why alot of the "7" boys shorten the standard serria rack. I can only get the bottom wishbone 11" long with the normal 755mm track rod pivot lenght. Realy needs to be 100mm Shorter. So will have to see which "7" kit car manufacturer does the rack lenght I need. More farting around finding stuf again. Oh well...

All you have to do is blow, and not very hard onto the exhaust side and it spins for over a minute. Now that impressed the hell out of me, so lag should be alot less than the Holeshot car. HKS Bosst controller on it's way as well.

Well the Bad news :D

I bought a Hydraulic pipe bender to do the cage etc, but have had complete failure in bending the T45 tube. When I bend it, it just colapses and creases. I even got to the stage where I welded a plate on both ends of the tube, after filling it with kiln dried sand and packing it in as to leave no gaps. Then I heated up the section that was to be bent until it was nearly red, but still it looked S***.

Bo Ho .... :D :D

Well the good News :D

I went to a Company in Banbury today to ask them if they could help. They had just what I was looking for, a 38mm 16G Mandrel pipe bender. :D :D

The only problem is that now if I want a pipe bent more than about 4 degree's I will have to make a template up from ply wood, then take it 15 Miles to get it bent. So now have for sale 1 slightly used pipe bender...... This will only delay me about a week or two, but at least I can still get done what I wanted....

Watch this space first chassis photo's coming soon...... :D

These are the Templates for the Main roll hoop and front front drop bars that meet the chassis just behind the front wheels.
