And it's because of that arm that I suggest you make sure the choke linkage is completely disconnected (with the fast idle screw backed out), not just that the cable is loose.

Ok the choke is now on correctly, now it needs to be tuned. To start up the car i have to have the choke out. After about 5 minutes I tried to push the choke back in and the engine cuts out, i shouldnt have to have the choke on all the time should i?

Does this mean i now need to adjust the mixture with the choke in, lean it off? and try and start the car?

Sounds way lean at the moment, are all the vacuum hose connected?

If so, its time to break out the colourtune again!!

Warm the engine up.

Adjust mixture to car is running way too rich, (mixture adjusting nut screwed down)

You should see an orange flame on the colourtune.

Adjust mixture so as to get a nice blue flame.

Take the car for a nice drive.

Pop a plug out and see how he's running, adjust mixture 1 flat at a time until happy.

Might take a couple of day to fine tune till you're really happy with it, but should do the trick.

Should i be moving the mixture nut with the choke pulled out or pushed in? When its pulled out its revving because of the fast idle speed. And when I try to push the choke back in, the car cuts out.

So should i warm the engine with the choke out, once the engine is warm push the choke back in (and if it doesnt cut out) then adjust the idle speed/mixture?

If it does cut out do I need to adjust the mixture nut whilst the car is switched off, and try to start the car with the choke pushed in and go from there?

The choke should be FULLY OFF!!

if it won't run with out choke adjust the mixture/tickover so it will.

Yup,

Warm engine up

Adjust so car will idle, either by mixture adjustment or idle speed.

Once it will run with out choke, adjust the mixture so its running way rich, adjust nut clockwise when looking down from top.

Break out colourtune as described in previous post.

I have a blue flame now, but the engine seems unstable, revving up and down slightly. Is this to do with the mixture?

If i push down on the accelerator, it seems slightly unresponsive and has a delayed reaction and then revs for a bit and slowly comes back down
