It'd be nice to think that for every 1.6 Min's on the road there's another sat in someones garage scoffing the contents of their wallet 'n "just resting"

119,275 Minis were on UK roads in 2002.
87,413 Minis taxed/sorned in UK in 2009.
=31,862 Minis have been scrapped/gone missing since 2002 (7 years).
Averaged out = approx. 4500 Minis scrapped/missing each year between 2002 - 2009
(or 2 x London to Brighton Runs worth every year!)
1,492,352 UK Minis have been scrapped over the past 50 years (94.34%)
Does anyone have any ideas/theories why far more Austin Minis (38.3%) have survived than Morris (6.2%) ?

I suppose the "scrapped" figure will be fairly accurate since Sorn came in, it will include exports and those that have migrated to the racetrack (unless they are just sorned?) but still a worryingly large number.

You'll note there are no BL or Austin Rover Minis listed, all the Minis I've owned from that era have been registered as Austin regardless of what it said on the badges.

Thanks Ethel that makes more sense now.................all my BL/Austin-Rover era Minis badged only as "Mini" were Austin in the log book now you mention it..
Yes a worryingly large number still being scrapped each year, hopefully more Mini owners will make the effort to save accident damaged or MOT failure Minis but this scrappage listing on Ebay is not a good sign:-

I would not object to anyone saving it with a suitable donor V5 to beat this Government scrappage scheme!!
