Just an idea, to make the forum more user friendly if you're using the nifty "linear+" view from the options menu.

If you envisage your new topic is going to run to several pages why not use your first post as a concise introduction or summary of the topic so it serves as a header, or even a project index, on the subsequent pages. You can get in with the first reply to yourself to post all the lovely piccies 'n juicy details.
