here's my 84 mayfair project

i picked up the car for 500 pounds, drove it home
its got a 998/auto
with it being 500 pounds i knew their was gonna be alittle rust
so no big deal, so im trying to get the car back on the road for less then 1000pounds counting
the cost of the vehicle in the 1st place

im gonna do all the work myself so that should cut the price down
i have a lincoln 175 but its from the states and i can't use it here being the differents in power
not a big deal

so im looking on ebay for a cheap used welder because their is a few rusted thur area's that are
gonna need some cutting and fitting of new panels

so my plan is to fit patch panels because their is no need to replace a big panel if all it needs is a small
sqaure

i used to weld and fab metal for a living so no problems their with bending up some sheet metal to make it fit
and i wouldn't say im a pro but im not bad at body work

anyways here's some pictures of the car when i 1st got it home

passager side,

im gonna take the metal all the way down to bare steel on this side and if it has any small pin holes i'll weld them up but if not then im gonna just prime it for now
but before i get all deep into the work i need to order/replace the heater martix
but i think im gonna block it off on the motor so i can get to working on the floor while the part comes in the post

here's a back view of how the patch will fit
ones i cut out the metal under it, and weld it in, it will be flush and the plan is to not have to use
much if any bondo to make it smooth

over the weekend i picked up a clarke 110en turbo welder off of ebay for cheap

it came with some .9mm flux wire so im just gonna try that out
as i have to wait unit pay day to get
some mild steel wire and some of the gas cylinders

so tonight i started to weld in the floor pan patch for the drivers side with the flux wire
and im just trying to get a feel for this machine

and so far, its nothing like my lincoln 175 amp, it feels alot
cheaper then the lincoln machine
but i'll be ok ones i get alittle more time welding with it

i'll add pictures later on this weekend coming up so i can
weld it and clean it up a bit

still looking for some diy bed liner to cover the floor with

its gonna be a driven project car for the most part

my goal is to be able to drive it to work by june

but i want to have the side body lines shaved by dec
and the new steel dash done by july/aug

the only thing left to do with electrical work is getting the brake lights to work

and i'll have the heater core repair work done by wednesday and fitted back into the car by saturday

and monday im going to price out new headlights since i hit them and they fall of the rack where i had them
so no more sealed beam lights, gonna upgrade to something better
also im gonna price out some wheel arches

i have about 80pounds left over on my budget for this pay period, so maybe i can get the arches used on the forum here
and i should be good after that

i started to shave the body lines of the fenders to body in the cowl area
and the body lines under the head lights

next of the list to shave is the body seam down the sides
but i just ran out of gas for my welder so i need to go and buy another
bottle

i got new inner cv boots on order, gaz adjustable lowered shocks, hd tie rods with poly and rubber bushings

and i got in the post the other day, new heater matrix, hi-lo's and wipac h4 conversion headlights

and come monday im gonna see how much new front wheel bearings are because i need those also

and i got my new amp in the mail also
ma audio hk802sx, 4400watts rms@1ohm

http://www.maaudio.c...htm?id=9&cid=12

i have a pair of tc sounds tc-9 magnets that are gonna be built into a pair of 12's

pair of custom built 12's for 4400watts of bass

but the car is coming along and i hope to have it on the road soon
