Hardly anything done lately, trying to get my other mini ready to sell. I've done all the repairs to it's door frame and skinned it, half way through getting it painted.

If anyone wants it, it's up for grabs for under £2000 with a long MOT =)

Sorry my Dad didn't get any decent pics of the near finished item

Hi guys, still working on the one for sale at the moment, meanwhile though, the project has moved outside, I've re-fitted the rear lights and boot lid all with new seals. Hopefully it will survive!

The one for sale guywithvan, I bought it from someone living on the south coast. I've been driving it around Surrey for about a year.

So 1 year later I've started work on the car again  I need to formulate a plan, I'm quite tempted to rush it together and MOT it ready for the winter as I've only got this and my motorbike atm.

I've just sold my other mini, so with the cash in hand I can start buying parts again. Looking back over this project I realised I should have spent more time on the car, I didn't have a job for about 6 months! I guess the money issues slowed the pace.

Here's the mini I've just sold Attached File  PH.jpg   101.67K   22 downloads

I was never really very attached to that one, so now to get back to my baby :dontgetit:

Having started riding bikes in May, I'm quite tempted to go for a bike engine conversion at some point - it just seems like such a fitting idea :D

I was going to do some work on it this evening but my brake light switch went on the bike, as it's effectively disabled I decided to whip the exhaust off and tackle the rust on that instead. Distractions distractions! At least it will get me back into welding brown foil again :P

I've finally started back on the mini, I bought some metal from metals4u which was at a decent price, but the square section I need hasn't arrived - tuffnells have done me a dis-service!

Meanwhile I needed to sort out these cheap brackets I bought, they didn't line up for jip!

Mocked up

Stripped it all off again as I need to put some more paint on the subframe as you can see the rust from it being sat there a year ^^

Any advice on getting the rubber cones off the trumpets?? Want to fit hi-los that I've ordered but I really didn't want to buy new rubber cones too.

Thanks

So time for some choppy choppy, I ordered a flip front yesterday so I've started some preparation :P I know it's not really necessary to chop a wing off at a time etc, but I want to keep the bonnet on as flip front will be a week or so (my project sits outside under a crappy non waterproof cover ^^) Just wanted some access to the scuttle to see what it's like, and I was pleased!

The closing panel under each end of the scuttle was pretty much gone, but minimal repairs are required on the scuttle! Nothing really interesting but:

choppy choppy! I'm quite proud of how close I went to the A panel with my angle grinder haha - bit careless though.

Yep those "A" panels will have to come off. Looks like your going to be busy welding in new door hinge panels, Is it the same on the other side??
Good project tho' , keep up the good work.

Thanks for the comments guys.

More daylight:

More trouble - all the studs sheered off on the hinges. Obvious fix is new hinges but how am I going to keep the rain out!

Posted Image

Weather is getting more dubious by the minute, can't leave the moke out in it :mrcool:

Andy I'm not sure what to do about the hinge panel, I might repair it in situ if I can! Still stripping off the flitch panel it's a pain in the arse. The other side will be much much quicker now I know how it's put together.

Back out to the mini...

I had the exact same rust on "Haggis" The more i looked the more i found. Had to get new dorr hing panels and flitch panels welded in. But once id made the decision to do it and got the grinder in top gear it wasnt as big a job as i thought. Still a lot of work though. Good luck and dont let the tin worm get you down.

Andy.
