I wish i could weld like you its excellent, once the tanks had a lick of paint your never no and it will look like new.
Might go and do this to my spare tank see what it turns out like then decide if i want to fit it or not.
P.s keep the progress and pics comeing. :D

Thanks man, it's all about the settings for the welding I just mess about on a scrap piece before I'm ready to touch the work every time lol, otherwise I wouldn't take pictures! I think I might paint it body colour and shine it up, make something special out of it :D

Whilst we're on this topic, I must say I did get the idea from "camp freddy" here: http://www.theminifo...x...t&p=1435078 :)

Blanked off the fuel cap on the exterior yesterday! I nearly got the bracket for the fuel tank strap in but I got too hot and bothered.

Ok so the problem, obviously I need to fill and paint this area, how do I get the remains of that duct tape off? Looks like WD40 is used, but I don't want to put anything oily on there when I need to paint it etc. :D
I'm broke so a household product would be good lol.

White sprit does the job, a dap of petrol, paint thinners, ive used these to get things like that off.

Thats some tidy welding you've got there.

Thanks lads, I found some gelsol in the garage, it's for chewing gum, labels etc, the duct tape literally wiped off. Paint seems fine too, although it took the primer on the bare metal straight off lol.

Looking for somewhere to get my subframe grit blasted now. Don't know if I mentioned I got some adjustable camber and toe brackets yesterday at hytheperformance for £35 =) Holes line up allright, I tapped out the subframe captives.

Couldn't get a better quote than £40 for sand blasting and it was a little way away so I think I'll just go buy some paint stripper. I've been using the wire cup on the angle grinder on the outside but it takes ages and theres no chance I can get onto the internal bits with it.

Bought some nitrmors at halfrauds today, also got some rear quarter seals at hytheperformance, and one rear light seal, they didnt have the other in stock lol. Fitted the rear quarter seal, it's too hot for paint stripping :ermm:
