I got to drive it for the first time today in 3 years, it's awesome! Need to do some tinkering still, tyres scrub arches on full lock so they need a trim, need to fit the steering column drop bracket so it doesnt feel like driving a truck and I can reach the top of the wheel easier, need to get some new wheel nuts as unfortunately they ended up in storage when the movers came and stole stuff (currently i've got revos on the back, slotmags on teh front! haha).
Anyways, I'd like to keep this car but I need to re-asses the situation financially! It's now on the road with MOT and 6 months tax, which is a major victory - but I need to find out how much it's going to cost to insure it properly (currently on temp cover), and also if I have to time to finish it off properly.
If anyone really likes this car and is interested in buying it drop me a PM with an offer or any questions you have about the car - you might get lucky!
Hope you've enjoyed following this thread so far, hopefully there's a lot more to come!

WooHoo! its got an MOT....well done, pity your selling it though, could you not sell some body parts instead and keep the mini? I hear kidneys are going for a couple of grand in china!.....But mean time enjoy driving it for a while and see how things work out.

Well done! Very impressed. If I didn't already have one in the garage I would be a buyer.

Hello!
Decided to check in and give a quick update on the mini, it's currently situated down near Christchurch on the south coast at my parents house - now it's up and running my Dad is enjoying using it for trips about town.
I went over there last weekend and we did lots of tinkering to try and weatherproof it - I didn't do all that welding only to have it rust again straight away! There were issues with rust around both front and rear screens resulting in puddles. Through once we took the screens out we were really pleased to see it didn't need any welding.
So lots of scrubbing and treating rust, a skim of filler and a quick prime later we had the rear screen back in with a new seal. Same on the front but we decided to replace the windscreen as I'd filled it with tiny pits from angle grinding and weld spatter!
Still a problem with water getting into the drivers footwell but this is coming in through the sill for some reason.
Also Dad managed to get an old clubman grill off of Ebay for a tenner - which gives the front end a bit more character. Hopefully I'll get around to straightening it out a bit some day. I did have to move one of the headlamps out by about 6mm, but otherwise this went smoothly. We just secured it with black cable ties which to be honest is pretty discreet so it worked out well.
Next time I can visit I think I'll have a go at re-positioning the seats a little, straighten out the front number plate and if the weather is nice smooth out some more bodywork.
Thanks for reading

Dad kindly sorted out my overheating problem
He cut some smart holes, and painted the area behind the grill black
Looks good
Thanks Dad!
