A fast idle screw cocktail- a blend of rusty water, old engine oil, sweat, blood, and petrol......

Does anyone else know the "smell" of their Mini? There is a particular smell that only minis seem to have, under the bonnet, of engine oil, water and petrol, with a bit of dust, all rolled into one. If you ever try to wash it off it lingers for ages.

My garage has that mini smell - smell never leaves the car either.

One of the lads got a lift from me the other day, and said he loved the smell in the car, took him back to his childhood lol.
Smells of Petrol and oil mostly, I do have a vanilla smily face thing from Halfords, but it's pretty useless.

It's surprising how quickly we accumulate things when owning minis. i got mine back in October, in my garage I now have a spare road legal set of 12 inch steel wheels, a set of brand new ten inch ultralites and a set of 10 inch Dunlops. 2 sets of bucket seat, a 1275 engine and a whole load of interior panels...............oh, and a second mini that needs to be sold.

When your boot contents are: Haynes manuel, 5litre petrol can, toolbox crammed with tools, jump leads.

That's mine at the moment!

Love this topic! SOO true!!

how about:

...when you wave at a mini going past, even though you're not in yours at the time.

or

...when someone not in a mini just randomly waves at you as you go past in your mini.

I put together a little A4 size image with my personal favourites, I thought I'd frame it and hang it in the garage or something. Maybe someone else wants it too so, here you have it, nothing fancy!

I also uploaded the photoshop .PSD file so that you can edit it all you want.

Had that twice on Sunday, with flashing lights too, thought something had fallen off the front of the mini

When you are driving along and somebody is turning right in the road and you can squeeze through the gap between the car and the kerb. Leaving the car that was following you struggling and eventually gives up and waits.

Doing an extra go round the roundabout with a massive smile on your face.

When you have the oldest car at your work and you couldn't care less that you are parked next to a 09 reg.

When you see someone in something like a porsche park badly so no one can park next to them. So you squeeze into that gap to prove a point.

When you wait smile when you put your windscreen wipers on because you know your passenger will laugh.

You also get used to giving your speech about your cars history, as well as 'yes thats a choke', 'if you press that it spins around', 'your trying to get out by locking and locking your door, just pull that handle', or if someone is waiting in the back and you say 'pull the nob the says PULL' to which the back of the seat flings and nearly knocks them out. 'nope that was the recliner'.

My girlfriend said to me yesterday that I needed to get a door handle fitted to the inside.

I'd always wondered why she wound the window down before opening the door. I had to laugh as I pointed out the door handle that had always been there.
