They always seem a bit louder when fitted in a car for some reason.

Mark,
Have you had the new one made yet?
No Mate, been a bit busy, had to cancel simpsons for the time being, still need to have it done though. Looking at the braking department aswell. Still got a few jobs to do over the winter to make it more road useable and get it ready for a trackday.
Will post some pics later of my little progress.
Cheers

After using the mini on the road a little it soon became apparant that i couldnt bare the noise on a long journey so until i sorted the bulkhead out i decided to purchase a peltor intercom system as used in the WRC rally cars etc. It now makes it a pleasure to drive and i can communicate with the passenger aswell without shouting.
I fitted the control box at the bottom of the bulkhead on a little alloy bracket.
I also noticed the rear arches catching a little on hard bumps and i hadnt got round to lowering the rear end so i decided to raise them from the normal Rover posistion and re-drill them higher.
You can see the difference in the moulding as it normally sits flush with the bumper but you can hardly notice it.
Now the ride height and drive shafts were somwhere near i fitted some fibreglass inner arches to stop the worst of the road muck and water spray from getting everywhere but i had to extend them a little with som red mudflap material to ensure a better job.
I also finally fitted the carbon copy doorcards to finish it off better than the grey vinyl tempoary item i was loaned to start with (Thanks John)
I have also got some slicks now in readiness for some trackdays next year!!
Thats all for now, Still sorting out driveshaft boot problems as they keep splitting!!
Got a few upgrades in the pipeline aswell
Cheers

I have now got my new airbox and cone filter to to fit this weekend which will hopefully reduce the intake noise a bit without causing too much power loss.
A friend of mine makes these which are a lot cheaper than the same item offered by SBD and REVERIE etc. The cone filter was courtesy of our friendly auction site
All i need to do is drill the backplate to suit my throttle bodies and obtain a small peice of pipe to connec the 2 together.
I have also obtained a small oil temperature gauge which will give me an indication if i need to improve the cooling of the oil. It was a cheap and easy soloution and takes seconds to fit and can be viewed through the rear screen at the end of a track session etc.
Im still sorting out the cv boot problem at the moment, has anyone else suffered this problem yet of grease spraying out of them or splitting?
Cheers

To be honest, it must be bonkers on a bike as the motor in std form in a car is fast enough, how do you ride a turbo busa bike??????
Maybe later in the year?????

Mark i was thinking of a turbo for the monte as it will help with the noise.
Also i was at newcastle sva station last week and a car failed the noise test, so just as an experiment they put some big foam pads round the rear and sides of the car not obstructing the exhaust tho, and it passed (he didnt get the ticket tho).
It prove a point that the noise was mechanical rather than exhaust.

i have read that with mini CV joints if you fit a small straw (like you get with a WD40 can) under the CV boot with 1 end sticking out this will acted as a vent pipe but wont let dirt in
i dont know if this will work with a Z cars set up but its cheap and you could give it a try

Koss, I havnt driven the car with the new airbox on yet but i have had it running yesterday and it sounds quieter inside the car already, These wer fitted to a few westfields to reduce induction noise at trackdays etc.
Bungle, Will try that tip tonight as i have found some CV boots at my local motor factors which do not foul the wheel hub and are the stretch type so you dont have to split the cv joint.
