Not really had chance to do much lately but ive been in their yesterday to fit the bulkhead so i can route the rear wiring loom through it and connect it to the front part.

The front loom is taking some time as i have relayed everything!!!

Posted Image

Im hoping to take it for MOT before the end of the month and have it ready for the MINI show in stafford on 3rd september.

Fitted the rest of the lower bulkhead after a bit of trimming and drilling, Now fitted rivnuts in the floor and side panels to aid easy removal if needed, Also connected up the wiring loom into the fusebox in the front and initially tested it and everything works and lights up, Fingers crossed as i will MOT it this week

your MOTing it then and not SVAing it as there has been a lot of talk as to what these Z CARS kits need

Mot as stated above just like many other Z-car steel body versions.

You need to speak to Z-cars for advice as he sells these kits as a conversion which does not require an SVA test when using a steel bodied mini or a minus.

Finally finished the loom off today and tested it, No faults so far and everything works which is nice!! :-

Fitted the dashboard and connected everything up including the capillary temp gauge into the top water hose so i could fill the system for the first time, Took ages to fill it as it only has an 8mm bore pipe from the header tank but got it done ok.
Wound the oil pressure up no problem.
Hit the starter with the plugs back in and away she went. Plenty of oil pressure, Let it idle for about 10 mins, Fan kicked in ok @ 85' and held the temp ok @80'
Seems to run ok but what should the bike engines idle at generally?
Just a couple of silly leaks but only stuff which needed a nip with the spanner.
No problems so far.
More progress tomorrow

Cheers

Mark, mine ticks over at about 1100 rpm.

Your first tentative drive can't be far off then?

Hopefully will get it up the road tomorrow, Bled the clutch up tonight with no problem, Bled the brakes had a few leaks which were easily sorted with a nip up but i have one problem with the copper brakepipe i re-used from the donor car which runs around the front subframe, it is weeping on the passenger side and when i really tightened it up it twisted the pipe :- so it is getting aeroquipped tomorrow like the rest of the car as i dont have a brake flairing tool or pipe/fittings and i have goodridge stuff left over to use.
Other than that i hae refitted the rollcage as you cant get the dashboard in with the cage in, bulkhead is in and the seats,
It has loads of toe-in on the rear at the moment so i will adjust it to somewhre near paralell till i have it set on thursday.

Cheers

Ihad a few problems with leaking break pipes as i had re used the shaped peice of copper pipe from the donor car as it looked ok but it was leaking at both sides.

Now as i hadnt got a pipe flairing tool i decided to aeroquip the rest of it as the whole car is now done in it.

So all the brakes are working ok now,
I took it up the road wednesday nite and Mot'd it thursday with no problems, Taxed it friday and went to a local classic car show yesterday in the terrential rain!!!!

Still got a few jobs to do like setting up the suspension as it has all settled down now and finishing off the bulkhead to stop the water coming in over my head!!!!
