I will also need to replace the inner top dash rail as the lip has coroded badly that there is no lower surround left now, or nothing you could weld to anyway!!!
Are they still available???
not sure if you can still get em, most people iv heard of that have done work on that part have just cut out the rotten metal and fabricated up a new plate.
suppose it depends on how much needs doin.

Thats what Chris Allanson keeps asking me. If i was going to put a different engine in the elise, it would be a supercharged type R

The whole reason the R1 mini came about was because a type R conversion for the elise was £10k, which i considered a bit over the top at the time. I think now, that i could have a go at putting the engine in myself. Would be seriously quick with 300bhp at the wheels....

mark are you using the steel front end? or is that in bad condition too?
Well unfortunatley i will have to cut the perfectly good wings off to replace the scuttle panel but i have already bought some new heritage wings and hope to get away with the front panel. (I had to pay more for an MPI wing because it hasnt got an aerial hole in it) Paying more for something which requires less processing or manufacturing!!! Crazy...........
Im not a fan of Fibreglass front ends on a road car as i dont want bonnet pins and fastners etc all over it, it will spoil the illusion of a stock cooper.
If it was a lightweigt track car then fair enough, carbon all the way!!!!!

I will have to get busy with the wire brush and remove it sharpish and give it all a coat of zinc spray to protect it till paint time.
The garage is a bit overcrowded now as the whole car is in bits and i have a fibreglass front in there aswell!!
Cheers
