Not much of an update but i thought it was worth a pic.......
Second box section now made, just requires the access holes drilling and welding to the floor in the right place for the seat subframes, it should also help with the shell stiffness aswell.
Also fitted the gear linkage and handbrake cable bracket just to check everything works ok and lines up etc as i dont want to have to re drill any holes etc once it is painted :nugget: :nugget:

Overall, very happy with the car. There were quite a few problems with the kit, but as I was the first person to build one, it was to be expected. I was a bit of a guinea pig really but the kits seem pretty much sorted these days.

That dvd was the 1st ever outing, so very pleased with the performance of the car. It was only running 3/4 throttle at the time, so a whole lot quicker now.

Why dont you abort your project and just cut the floor out of the shell you have in your signature as you have done most of the hard work???

Well thats very true mark, but i have spent so much on it already ie full spax suspension, rear subframe bushes and fully referbed and i have a spare shell which i am thinking of using for the projuect as well as a spare front subframe too.
I spent about £335 on spare body pannels on the old shell too.

Although i have thought about it especially after watching the dvd last night. I think i have got chance of a free r1 egine too that is completely fine.

:cheese:

I have finally pulled my finger out today and started the welding, well the bits i have to do anyway as i got a bloke doing the panel replacements and fitting the new scuttle panel so hopefully it should be on its way to him next week???
The seat mounting boxes are welded in on the drivers side now and hope to complete the passenger side tomorrow and plate over the drainage holes/bungs in the footwells and plate over where the air intakes came through the bulkhead.
I would post some pictures but the new forum wont let me as i have no space left!!! I cant even use the smilies as my computer says no and asks me to de-bug when i click any of them???

Cheers

And also made the rear silencer brackets and mocked up the crossbar but the finished item will be finished in alloy!!!

I just have to connect up the system with some nice stainless fabrication!!

It will hopefully be going into the bodyshop this week to have the new scuttle panel and wings fitted plus new sills then some new paint.

Ps cheers to Mini Mad Me for the loan of the wheels to keep it rolling while the weldings being done so i dont damage the new minilites.

cheers
