Yeah, I had a butchers at it last night!

Someone has cut up a poor old Mini lol!

I have been thinking that maybe some group 5 arches would cover the wheels better. I reckon the sportspack arches fitted are about 1/2" to narrow unfortunately. Theoretically they'd fail the MOT (depending on the testers eyesight lol).

KEEP THE WHEELS AND CHANGE THE ARCHES!!!!

Ive been out in the garage again today, I have now lowerewd the front seat x-member by 1 1/2" now to give plenty of clearance for my head whilst wearing a Helmet (No sarky comments)!!!! on trackdays etc. I have basically chopped the top off, lowered it and welded the top back on but i have also added som 1/8" strips of steel where the seats rails will sit to give a bit of extra strength for the bolts.
I just have a rear box section to fabricate this week which will be similar but better as it will be made from one peice of sheet steel. then my mate is coming round to seam weld all the bulkhead and seat rails etc, generally anything which is spot welded together at the moment!!!!!
This is what it looks like so far......

also trial fitted exhaust manifold and airbox to start gettin ideas for the bulkhead in case any brackets need to be made for the shell before painting.......

Dale / Ade have you got any pics of how you have fitted / made your bulkheads as i have a few ideas of my own but just trying to get a vision of how it all goes together and look neat at the same time!!

Looking from this angle though, im am gonna have a hell of a lump in the top plate of the bulkhead........ but it will be quieter and run better than a pipercross filter on it.
The air box inlets are getting modified with an alloy tube adaptor to fit the round tube on and so they come out sideways insted of facing forward as you wouldnt get a pipe on in the direction they point at the moment.
Will update when the rear x-member is fitted later in the week.

Mark,
You could try reversing the airbox so the bulk of it is behind and below the throttle bodies, I have seen this done on several firebades and blackbirds it may work for the busa. It could also possibly help with a further reduction in intake noise as the inlets would be further away and behind the engine.

I have somewhere a couple of pictures of this mod but it may take some finding, let me know if you need a piccie

Found one on the internet, it's not very clear, this airbox has also had the corner that would normally stick up cut off level to clear the fury bonnet

Cheers
David

Spun the airbox round on my Indy Blade, then carefully cut the rubber pipes off turned them 180' so more airflow. Not a good picture though.

hi guys, a little off topic, but i am hoping to do a twin hayabusa conversion to my mini (when i eventually get one :erm: ) jus wondered if you guys could give some pointers?

p.s, good luck with solving that intake problem mark

(this may just be me being thick, but cant you replace the intake box with a cool air intake, of a feed pipe to get around the bar problem??)

Mark

Why dont you fit a foam filter instead? Once it is setup it will give more power.

When i ran mine with the standard airbox back on there was a huge drop in power.

my plan is to cut off base of air box, make new aloy box with two inlets at each end & attach two tubes with K&N filters mounted near boot to cut down intake noise....Richmk1
