Very nice. What colour are they going?

It is going to be a sportspack replica with a bit of a kick!!!!! :cheese:
I would have fitted the genuine alloys but z-cars advised me that it would upset the handling of it too much on 6"wheels so it's now on 7s. but everything else is going back on it , side stripes, the 4 original spotlights etc...........it helped having a genuine cooper to start with.
It would have turned out differently if i had started with a bare shell probably.

Thanks for the info R1minimagic.

Yet another cold day in the garage but i have managed to drill off all the frame to the floor and fasten the rollcage in properly now so nothing should move Now.
Next jobs are seat subframes, gearchange mechanism and handbrake cables and brackets, basically anything which has to be drilled to the floor as i want all the drilling, grinding metalwork etc done before it is painted.

Also pushed it out of the garage just before it got dark to have a good look at it, also got a few of the neighbours coming over for a look!!!!!

It's just over 3 months since i drove it into the garage as a standard cooper on August 16th and started this thread aswell............

I have noticed on thing wrong with the kit so far and that either the measurements for cutting the floor (as quoted on the dvd) are incorrect or the frame is made incorrectly as i have a 3/4" gap between the end of the floor and the frame    so i will need a small strip of metal welded back in from underneath to make the gap up.
Has anyone else got this gap on theirs as i have watched and checke the DVD many times in case i had done somethind wron but a little close scrutiny of the one built on the dvd shows the same fault?????

This is what im on about..........

Something not right there Mark. Have you got a pic from underneath so I can see how close your holes are to the edge of the floor?

When i did mine, i fitted the cage first and then marked the floor (ie left too much metal in), rather than using a measurement from the crossmember.

I dont like the idea of welding a strip across the floor, might be better to get some cut off your front cage at the top and door bars and reweld the ends back on, depending on how much further forward you need to go..... If its only a little bit then you can adjust the wheels back a touch on the rose joints to re-centre them

In hindsight i should have done the same but it is only scross the tunnel where im short of metal. Along the rest of the flange/frame i have 1/8" to 1/4" of overhang on the floor so i can trim it back flush with the frame.
I couldnt move it any further forward as the wheels appear too far forward in the arches now already so i will need to wind them out a little anyway.
It is only cosmetic really as i want the floor watertight for road use.
This is what i looks like now..........

Ok, as long as you have enough metal overlapping on each side of the tunnel, i wouldn't worry about it. Just weld a piece back in like you said. I thought you meant you had a big gap all the way across!!

I think mine has a small gap in the centre but nothing like 3/4", maybe 1/4" i think and the bolt holes are well into the floorpan.
