Mark, the tacho is incorporated in the Veypor unit (I've got the standard Veypor car kit- not the VR2 model), and I'm running seperate guages for fuel level, water temp, and (eventually) oil pressure.

Oh yes, the price. I can't remeber how much it was now, but I remeber it being cheaper than the RRP mentioned on the website as it was one of the last of an old model or something along those lines. Sorry, not much help really....

I had opted for the stack as it does everything, revs, speedo, water tem and oil pressure, shift light etc it does have a gear indicator but it isnt very clear so i thought the geartronics was ideal as it would be in my line of vision?

I havnt spent the ££££ so it is always wise to evaluate all the options, next pile of cash is planned for the paint job and body repairs :fear:

Then for all the nice bit's to finish it off......
I cant wait to just get the kit into the shell and for it to sit on it's wheels again, those are the milestones in a project that spur you on to get it done.

Pete and I considered these for a while but in the end got a good deal on the gauges we have in the cars so left it.

I think it worked out a bit cheaper than stack and looked lovely :D and also included the fuel gauge which stack doesn't.

I havnt go any provision for a tank sender yet as i was gonna run the std. tank to for a while then have a larger version made with a remote filler and sender unit etc at a later date, as z-cars have a neat one in the new type r mini and even stored the battery under the tank. The original tank just about holds 5 gallon if my calcs are correct :D

The gauge thing will be up in the air till im ready to buy them, i have looked at the spa tacho and use a seperate dual digital gauge for fuel andwater temp, oil pressure. By the way, what batterys are you all running and where have you mounted them???

The SPA sytem is really really nice, but REALLY REALLY expensive!!

I havn't fitted a battery yet, but have a couple lying around which I trial fitted before paint, along with a securing strap behind the passenger seat. I'd like to use a bike battery though as they tend to be much smaller and lighter, but I don't know whether they'd be up to the job or not. I need advice on this one.

Incidentally, where have you taken/ are you planning on taking, the oil pressure capillary from? Presumably it's an electro-mechanical sender? I've seen some people take it from the inside of the oil cooler mounting bolt, but just wondered if this is the best place or not.

i dont know about the R1 but the hayabusa has a oil pressure switch in the block by the fitter so my sender will go in there with the switch and the water temp sender is going as near as possible to the engine as this will give true engine temp reading. Fan switch will be in the radiator.

DD

I have the Spa system and am very pleased with it. My battery is a lightweight racing one from Demon Thieves (got it as a xmas prezzy off my mum!), not had any problems with it yet, ive had it fitted for 2 years now. It is installed on a small tray in front of the fuel tank.

If you have a carb'd R1 you can use the cylinder head blanking plug as your oil pressure source.

PS You can save buckets by getting the dials direct from Spa. I think I saved over £100 on them.

If you've got reverse then don't go for a bike battery. It's not powerfull enough. I just went for a standard car battery as I have that extra few inches  and i'm not worried about weight. Mounted in front of engine behind bulkhead.
Oil sender is fitted into cylinder head just above and to the left of the exhaust manifold. There's a 10mm bolt that you use to check pressure. We had an adapter made to go from 6mm external thread up to 1/8npt internal with a 1.5mm hole through the middle. The only problem we found was the tendancy to snap off the small 6mm threaded section when we fitted them. Managed to snap 3. Now they are fitted it works fine.
A friend has drilled out the bolt on the oil cooler and had it tapped to accept the sender unit. If you can fit it behind the manifold then I think this is the better way.

I am not fitting the front arches yet as i have to replace the wings, a-panels and scuttle so no point in chopping them yet.
