does it sound like this?

kinda, but not so loud, or constant.
as i said above, i did the redex 'intensive carb clean' this wouldn't have done anything would it? :thumbsup:

Could be a number of things, quite possibly a blowing manifold or exhaust, or rocker clearances. They would be my first things to check.

i'll get on with a new gasket for the manifold and the clearances on the tappets.

Cool keep us posted, it you find what it is might help me out, i tryed tappets leaks dizzy ect.

if its any help to you guys, it turned out the tapping was the duplex timing chain slapping onto the timing cover, fitted a new simplex tensioner for about a tenner, and the noise has disappeared!!!
