Model: Rover Mini Mayfair
Year: 1991
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):
Hi, I was told I needed to replace my mini bulbs for my indicators as they were apparently running out. I replaced the back ones easily with soem halfords ones but the front I am having more difficulty with as I am not sure how to get the current lamps out. I got one out by twisting and pulling but I think I did it wrong as the bulb doesn't have the bottom connector on the bulb I am replacing it. I fear I have yanked it out, as being more careful with the other one hasn't worked.

What can I do to fit them? Or does it have to be a mechanic jobby.

Cheers

They may be slightly rusted in, they come out the same as the others they're sort of a bayonet type, give them a twist and a pull and they should come out no problems.

Pair of long nose pliers might be handy to get the remains out of the one you've already attempted :w00t:

If the unit they go into is rusted it might be worth ordering a new set from minispares and wiring them in yourself if you feel confident enough, it's only a half hour job really and doesn't require any knowledge.

As Chris says, but try to push in, then turn (clockwise off the top of my head), then the spring will push it out for you.

Just be careful if you've got broken glass in there from your previous escapades! :w00t:

Bulbs do not 'run out'!

Occasionally a bulb will blow and you'll need to replace it. I can't see any reason why you'd suddenly need to change all your bulbs though.

I missed that the first time I read the post!
Perhaps he has clear lenses and the bulbs have faded?
But otherwise, it sounds like someone had some bulbs to sell! Lol.

Ah, I was just told by someone who used to own a mini that the indicating was speeding up so I should change the bulbs. It has progressed to simply not flashing when I indicate, just having the solid colour.

I failed to get out the front ones anyway, shall have to take it to the garage to see if he can fix my shortcomings!

What could the error be instead then?

Agreed. Halfords flasher units are crap.
