Model: Mini Cooper MK5?
Year: 1996? I think
Mini Cooper - Speedometer just stopped working. DAMN >:)

We have recently bought a MiniCooper, it's the classic style not a BMW mini (I thinks its a MK5).
It's been great since we had it, but for some reason the speedometer just suddenly stopped working.
I doubt it's a major problem but i'm not at all familiar with these cars (yet!).
I guess that it's either the sppedo guage or maybe the speedo cable but i've no idea how to remove
the speedo cable (engine side) or how to remove the clocks (dashboard side) :D
If anyone can give me some simple pointers on how to remove the clocks and any other
points that may help me fix the problem it would be a great help.

Cheers

to get the clocks out you will need to get the dash out! Mine come off the back of the clock the other day and i just about managed to get my hand up and push it back on!!
You could ahave the same problem, but it might just have snapped. If so, theres only 3 nuts holding the dash on place. 1 in either footwell area (look through air vent holes) and 1 behind the radio above the heater.

Boo's cable snapped the other month... luckily it was from the clock side.
You'll have a 2 peice cable. if it's snapped on the upper part, it's quited easy to fix (and you don't NEEEED to take the dash out to do it)
Well, that depends if you've got smallish hands. you just need to take the radio out and the metal sleeve that holds it in place.
Feed the cable through the rubber grommet in the bulkhead and fish for it with your hand in the radio slot... must admit, it is kinda tricky but once it's located it's a push on and you're done.

(I thinks its a MK5)

It's either a MKVI (if the radiator is fitted on the side) or a MKVII (if the radiator is fitted up front): -
