Why dangerous, gives you 25bhp at what, which is fine, and then another 25 on a button when at what. presumibg the vehicle can take a 50bhp hit this manner of organising the system is not bad.

Just said extra 25 on a button

if this was not at wide open throttle then failures would happen, if you give advice then imho you have to explain properly not let people assume

just out of interest i wonder how many of the people that have given advice have

1 installed a kit on there own car
2 run a kit on there own car therefore live with the kit gas filling ect
3 run one of these diy kits that were in the link a few posts up
4 have a "mate" or a "mate" of a "mate" that has a nitrous kit
5 have any knowlege at all other than what they have read on web sites

He he he, i love mini forums...... :cheese:

Its good to hear lots of different opinions and experience, but bearing in mind i have limited mechanical experience and enough $$$ i was always gonna buy a complete kit with manufacturers instructions etc etc.

Anyways, i'll probably be using my block as a door stop fairly soon :dontgetit:

Very interesting subject, have many books on it. Just need an engine to play with. I fancy doing one of these DIY systems but not the way that guy does it, I'd use specificaly designed and calibrated nossles as this is one of the biggest areas of mistake and will end in the engine melting. Also I'd use the specific solenoids as the modified ones are not certified to run at the pressures they do :P

The DIY route is not the easy route by any means and should be left for the more technicaly understanding amung us :smartass: and accept the risks :dontgetit:

Oh and Moss Europe do a kit, I asked the price and was just shy of £700

This is a good point, I presumed that he meant another 25bhp at full throttle with button pressed! Then as soon as you come of full throttle the N2O switches off again...

I am glad you assumed that as it means i did explane it almost as i wanted,
but just to tidy up a bit ,
IF your engine can take it and if you decide to add another 50bhp
it is safer to add it in two stages , first stage of 25bhp on the what and then another stage (using another set of solenoids and jets) at what that is activated by a button .
this adds your desired 50bhp with less strain on all your engine and transmision components , also 50bhp in one hit can make your car difficult to control or steer also adding the second stage this way means it can be aborted if stage one does not go to plan .
you could also acheve this with a nitrous controler but they are expensive (£300 or so) the problem of boosting at low revs can be got round by fitting a window switch (only allows activation between pre-set rev limits , upper and lower)
I admit that i have only fitted one nitrous oxide system on to a ford focus
this worked very well (it was featured in fast ford  ) and was jeted up and tested on a rolling road(not by me !) before a full power run , this was not a kit but components bought seperatly by me , not DIY , properly rated nitrous oxide solenoids , bought from a website and posted from the states .
the whole lot came to around £100.
properly rated braided hose is available localy at a fraction of the price asked by the kit people (wizard of nos, nitrous express, etc)
BEWARE of advice from these people as they base thier advise on their own products NOT on what is best or the most ecinomical solotion .

woody, this what i'm talking about, buy the right bits and plumb it yourself :P . Don't you think those diy solenoids are way suspect :dontgetit:

i agree with wolfie, a "second shot" on a button is potentially dangerous for the engine if activated at the wrong time.

you'd be better off using a progressive controller for a smooth delivery of N2O.
