Currently I have a standard roof on Dominic with a brown leatherette effect vinyl covering. I want to spray it black, preferably Matt black.

Is it best to spray it with Halfords Flexible Vinyl Paint?

Does anyone know if this gives a matt, glossy, or satin finish? It doesnt specify on the website.

I've also seen aerosols advertised on eBay as "bumper spray", are these any good for what I want?

Cheers

Flexible Vinyl paint is really the only thing to use.

It kind of mimics well looked after vinyl, so a kind of satin sheen is the best way i can describe it...

I wouldn't use bumper spray....

I find the sprays give quite a shiny finish which i dont like the look off, based primarily on results ive read in books and seen on the net I would go for actual vinyl dye. However this i believe is more expensive and a little more ardous. Better result though!

*big monkey dong* I totally fogot about the dye!!

I've heard the dye's are good too,.. and definatley more arduous to apply than the paint,.. but gives a much better finish.

Is the Halfords Flexible Vinyl spray not a dye?

The dyes I have seen come in a spray form as well?

Also I'm thinking you may have to buy a more than one tin, at about £9.99 each its not going to turn out cheap unless there is something else out there?

Hmm I think I might leave it for now then.

I just ordered some black 1275GT decals to match it too  I might stick them on anyway but leave the roof. :)

I already have some brown GT decals down the side. I just bought some black ones to match the roof which I'm now not sure of. I will be changing the interior for a black & white theme over time, so it doesn't matter about it matching that.

Get it sprayed you big wooly-woofta!

Ive done alot of the interior on my mini with black halfords flexible paint, im not sure how well it would hold up on a roof of a car. Its probally gonna cost alot aswell you dont really get much in those spray tins, but I have some pics of what it looks like anyway (dont mind some of the crappy spraying).

Let. Yes, you LET me do work on your cars. I might start LETTING you pay me. :)

Now stop being a big girls blouse and take some rattle cans to it. Or Hammerite. I've got a big tin in my boot that i bought from some cretin last year, its yours for £20.00 if you want it.
