T-cut made my car go all shiny

Back breaking work that was - took 6 hours to wash it, apply t-cut over every panel, and then a good polish with Mers. Difference it made was quite spectacular!

Farcela G10 is is much less course than T-Cut.

Its is avaliable in various grades, e.g. G3, G6, G10 etc. it depends how bad the swirl marks are that you want to get out.

Each one is less course than the next (read the label tho as some should only be used with machine polishers!).

Any good motorfactors should stock it.
http://www.farecla.c...e-products.html

G10 works really well by hand, its just hard work (I usually use T-cut first and then use G10 to get rid of the marks that T-cut leaves);

The thing about ALL car Polish EXCEPT AUTO GLYM (and similar resiny ones) is that they are ABRASIVE.
They are like Jiff Cream...or toothpaste, they CUT into your paint.

The thing about T Cut is it is WORSE and STRONGER and also has a nasty bleaching effect.

If you were to pour a gloop pf T Cut onto that bonnet, then polish away....it would always have a "gloop" shaped mark on it.
Its EVIL....T CUT is the work of Satan
However....as with Demonists and Devils...you can sometime use them to your own benefit

So, this is what you do;

you wash the car...get it CLEAN.....let it dry.
THEN....you get some T CUT and some CREAMY WAX POLISH (don't ask for a brand....look for a creamy polish....NOT hard....not spray on....you want thick creamy stuff)
You get LOTS of clean mutton cloth (its all cotton-y and kinda like "knitted" together, Halfords usually stock them)
And you put an equal amount of BOTH onto a big lump of polishing rag.

Now the car MUST BE CLEAN, because we are gonna use the SAME bit of cloth for the whole car, and we don't want DIRT on it.

So starting on the bonnet, you rub in small fast circles and the t cut "bites " into the paint and the polish stops it being too nasty.

You go round and round in a bit about 1 foot by 1 foot, then you re apply more to the cloth..both T cut AND polish, 50/50, and you do the next bit.
You NEVER buff it off, you BLEND the original bit with the new bit and you keep at it. Go over the edge of the bonnet and down the wing, using the same bit of cloth, over and over, more polish etc etc

You see the cloth goes RED (if your car is red) and the polish thats infused in the cloth goes red, it all goes red.
SO do your hands.

You turn the cloth, but you use the same bit, unless it gets DIRTY (black or brown) then you change.
You do the entire car its all in poilsh, quite thin, kinda "ground in"
THEN....fresh cloth....

DONT BUFF IT OFF>>.....DONT..wait.

You put fresh polish ON ITS OWN in the cloth and you rub THAT in, all over.

what is happening is you are kinda "dissolving" the t cut...stopping it being so harsh.
Its like starting with course sand paper and moving to a finer grade.....it MAKES the SURFACE shiny....

If you imagine the paint, under a microscope, looking like a mountain range, its supposed to look like a dessert....flat.
you have to take off the peaks and simultaneously SEAL them with polish.

Dont use colourmagic, it doesn't last.
you have to WORK at it.
Its a good feeling....your arms and chest will ache...it'll take about 4 hours ...solid

Alternatively use G10 :dontgetit:

you can just tcut a car stragiht off when its dirty
it will damage the paint less and take the whole leyer of dirt off as it has ammonia in it
if rubbed off properly then it will leave absoolutley no mark unless you have put on too much

I definately wouldn't advise that  !

T-cut/ polishing compounds shouldn't be used to CLEAN paintwork.

As pie said, make sure its clean first!

What a load of rubbish. It will scratch the paint more! If your rubbing dirt into the paint then lumps of grit will scratch your car!! :P

You need to wash your car to get it clean!
But at the end of the day, its your car, and if you want to be paying for resprays every 2-3 years then t-cut your car while its dirty  :dontgetit:

Im not sure T-cutting your car everytime you wash it is a wise idea! There would surely be less and less to polish up each time

t cut "bites " into the paint and the polish stops it being too nasty.

pahhh who told you that? they need shooting

the T-cut is still gonna be abrasive, just has polish with it.

the fact is you shouldn't use T cut on a mini as it contains ammonia and its harmful to 2k paints.

if you want to get a good shine, as this person has said, clean your car, and use G10 with plenty of water.

once you've done that, polish it with a good sealer like the meguires stuff.

the reason why its called t CUT is because it CUTS back the paint, as said, if you keep on doing it, you will get down to primer in no time at all, as i said above, if you do need to cut back to restore colour and get a deep shine use G10 with plenty of water, then seal it with a good polish.

Polish is NOT the same as Cutting back, T Cut is NOT polish.

As psmurfy said, id use G10 or go coarser depending on how bad, then go over again with a good polish like autoglym.
You dont need to keep using it though, just polish it often with autoglym.
