I also put some new wheels on him.....
but then decided they were too wide and I didnt like them so they came off and were sold again.
Last week a little order arrived from mini spares....
I took off all the chrome trim from the sides and put black rubber arch and sill trim on instead. This was almost as hard as getting the chrome stuff on and i had to keep leaving it as it was killing my hand!
So in between doing that in little stages I started unscrewing the bonnet lip...
and then off came the bonnet stripes
These peeled off really easily, just left a bit of residue which I scrubbed off with some petrol. The underneath polished up nicely.
Then I took off vin's old cooper grille and replaced it with a wavy grille...
Still with a bit of bonnet stripe glue left behind in that pic! The grille was a good fit but I should have ordered new sides for the grille really as these didn't fit the new one at all. I had to trim a little bit of metal off to slide it in them before putting it all back on vin.
Was a bit of a struggle with some of the screws too! 10 years of grime and rust holding them on I guess
My tool for the afternoon...
yes really! the end unscrews and there is a phillips head screw driver in there lol. Oh and I used some tin snips to trim the grill sides
So here is vin min as he currently stands minus his stripes...(with his friend reggie)
I also ordered some bumper overriders and corner bars and drilled the holes for the front ones. Haven't fitted them yet as first I need to get these pesky screws undone somehow...
Oh yeh and I added a shiny little overtaking mirror.....

He looks uber smart now, have to have a good look at SMD (i assume your still going) You need some nice deep dish wheels i reckon - wide is best and those arches need filling up some more.
Keep on mini-ing!

thanks! I know, but those wide ones I had weren't right for Vin. Wish you could try on mini wheels like people can try on shoes.
The old skinny, granny style wheels are too narrow for the arches but tough bananas. Not buying any more new wheels for a while! Got to spend money on a throttle body and tin worm remedifying first.
I've got some small spacers to go on the back wheels when get round to it....
who is sheldon?
aww thanks dan.it all looking good amy,if you want to put him on any TMF club stands this year let me know, although i deffo want him at the malvern TMF stand at malvern in october!!!
Did you know I have a local club now? Bullseye Mini Club so I now finally have some local mini friends to play with! We'll prob. have a stand at Malvern but if there is room for me on the TMF stand again I'd really love to! I promise I'll talk more this time....

It was a bit nastier than the last bump with a creased and wonky back panel.
My newly re-sprayed bootlid (would barely shut)...
This time Mr Shed was the culprit which was bad but then good because a very guilty Mr Shed paid for Vin to be fixed and also for the worst rusty bit under his headlight to be done. So I ended up with an improvement! Then, while he was in the workshop I got them to fit my bumper over-riders for me.
They did a good job of straightening his butt out,
Shiny bumper bits
Now I'm umming and ahhing over my roof, I was always going to re-trim it or spray it in an off-white to match the rest of my roof. But I can't decide if it would just be too much effort!
and...much as I love Vinnie the mini and, bar the odd clutch/fuse/wheel bearing prob, he's pretty reliable....I'm slightly getting a bit bored with him and maybe want an older mini.... but don't know if I can part with this mini, I'm very attached hmmm
