In My Opinion, as long as we have 621 AOK, x411 JOP and 33 Ejb all tucked away safely at gaydon, minis on the road should be modified to the owners content.

If the technology exists to make your car safer, or more reliable, only a fool would decide it was silly to make those changes (Unless you're building a show car).
I have a 1981 mini city E. It was beige, had brown carpet and blue seats. It had the most hideous autoplas dash. It looked like poo on wheels. So u know what i did? I MODIFIED it!
And it felt goooood! I got rid of the drum brakes on the front and replaced them with discs. I replaced the carpet, the headlining, the seats, the door cards, the dash, the seat belts are now lovely red racing harnesses. I chopped the front off and replaced it with a fibreglass flipfront (no more contorsionist acts to get to things, u ought to try it, makes a world of difference), i replaced my dim sealed beams with nice bright halogen lights, i put a performance filter on it, a nice shiney rocker cover, a free flow manifold, 2" centre exit exhaust, 7x13 alleycats, sportpack arches. Have i upset you enough yet? Well this should do it

Like i said, dumb topic.

Their adequate enough for engine sizes up to 1098cc, but any bigger i.e 1275cc and discs are needed up front.
Mind you the South African built Mini 1275 E (which was a Clubman fronted 1275cc engined basic Mini), ran on drums all round!

will this ever end! minis where made for modding, that was mini`s secret in the 60`s they had it all planned out they knew the mini would thrive with young and old people in the future, mini in the 60`s was an experiment for the future lol it was made to be modded by us "youngens" lol people will allways mod minis full stop
I second that notion!

Wasnt that the one with the stripes that went all the way other it? it was Odd...But a well set-up and adjusted drum brake system works fine and most Minis had drums fitted all round for the first 25 years of production.

Yep it's better than vented disc brakes, he barks at danger so you have more time to stop. You should get one from minispares.
