My opion on the fact is do it, you will be the first person to have done it and it would be quiet cool seeing it done.
And anyway its your car mate do what you like with it, no1 else is going to be driving it around so why listen to what they have to say about it.
Cheers

i might stick a trabant engine in my next mini just because no-one else has done it, it'll be a waste of money and *melonsing* slow and pointless but at least i'll be the only one to have done it.
my personal opinion is stick with a b16/b18/b20 and you won't go wrong at all.

i thought the bmw mini engines were chrysler, with an mgzr gearbox??? well thats what i was told anyways, if im wrong please dont shoot me, lol
Almost there!
First generation BMW Mini was a Chrysler engine and box built in Brazil!!
The latest is a Peugeot engine as used in the 207.
In fact all the engines in the latest Mini are Peugeot - includes 1.4 Mini First, 1.6 Cooper Petrol, 1.6 Cooper Diesel and 1.6 Cooper S Turbo!

Sorry to be almost pointlessly picky, but the Getrag M66 box was used on the Focus ST170. The Mk1 Focus RS used the MTX75 box with a Quaife ATB diff. The BMW mini cooper S use a Chrysler engine, gearbox is a Getrag box which is also used in the Mk1 Focus RS...
Although, its no use since were talking about Peugeot and Chrysler engines here.
