SPi alt are 45 amp - some books state 55amp but this must be export models. have never seen a 55 or higher on a SPi from standard, all the replacements are rated at 45amp too

MPis are 65 amp.


can tell the ampage on the A127 alternators by checking the colour of the plastic insulating washer bit in the rotor (behind the fan) - usually though these are covered is crap.
-45A (White insulator end washer colour)
-55A (Black insulator end washer colour)
-65A (Green insulator end washer colour)
-70A (Blue insulator end washer colour)

can also take the back off and check the rectifier packs.

you will see it - use some brake cleaner to clear the crap out the way and you will see the colour clearly...

how do you no what alternator you have??? as in how many amps it is?

There's a sticker/stamp on the underside of the alternator stating what type/amps it has.
