What Counts As Retro?

I've wanted to do the run ever since it was first thought of, but my mini has never been in a state where it could go, until this year.
Finally, this year, I am definately going to be going, and the car's all ready and in good shape now, and will only get better leading up to the ring trip.
Here's the odd bit: My dad has always wanted to come with me too, he's also a member on here (doesn't post much) and has his own project mini that's not on the road yet (rebuilding an ex-hillclimb 1380)
He's 63 now, and suffers from a pretty bad back, so the 800 mile round trip in my fully track prep'd mini isn't going to do him any favours.
I came up with the idea of him comming along driving my dailly (240bhp Audi A3 turbo- 12 years old) but It's not really retro at all, so I'm not sure if it'd be allowed to come along with us!
If the cars too new to be counted as part of the retro run, would there be any objection to him comming along independantly of the run? catching the same ferry, and staying in the same hotel?
It could also be used to load up with spares should there be any sort of support car needed.
We both want to drive the Mini at the ring, as it's been a bit of a joint project over the last 5 years, but any more than an hour or so in the Mini, and he can't walk properly!
Also, on a slightly seperate note: I saw Jammed mentioned that passengers don't have to pay any extra to come along, apart from camping and the hotel fee's. Are these extra fee's paid to the BH2NR team, or just at the hotel/campsite at the time?
Cheers
Nick

As for if the A3 is retro enough, not reaaaally, but there was one there last year (and it was damn nice too).
You could put a few Quattro UR stickers on it and nobody will know!

The extra camping/hotel fee will be paid at arrival on the campsite/at the hotel.

It's not retro no, but it's German at least, and well setup for the ring. it's fully sorted, dropped 50mm, eibach arbs's, big brakes, big FMIC, running 240bhp 300lbft, should be a good laugh!
My A3 is the old shape one, so it's definately more retro than the one that went last year! wasn't that brand new?

Not wanting to start a war but, have you asked the organisers about this?

The general idea it to do the run in a Retro Car/Mini but non retro cars have been allowed if the afformention car is unusable for the run.
There will be clarification on this soon.

Only if you bribe us by taking us around the ring in it!

Serious answer, we're trying to compile some guidelines about what's 'R' and what's not. We'll let you all know ASAP

Charlie
so what your saying is if you have a mini or retro car booked in for the run
but then that car cant make it at the last minute you can then use your back up car
not like anyone done that before could name names but will get shouted at lol again

if you think you have a retro car / Mini and you are wanting to participate, then drop one of us a PM with your choice of car and we will get back to you ASAP with our answer.
I can see it shiny clear when someone says if my mini aint ready can i bring my dads 2006 whatever?? that basically means i´ll see you in my dads 2006 whatever...
Lets keep the game the game...i have no worries anyways, the places will fill up very quick!!
Dont mean to be blunt...but we are ready to start the wheels for this year turning.

I think the main reason for this run is to get as many minis and retro / classic cars over here to Germany for a goodtime ... i can see the reality of some of you`s wanting to bring your new cars over for a spin around the ring, but that aint the idea is it?? if we wanted that then we would call it something else!!
like `Bring a car to the ring run ,
