my neighbour called the council and i got a parking ticket for parking my mini outside my house and working on it. and i live in a col de sac out of the way of every thing and one. i really wanted to hit him. he always makes snidy comments "broken again is it" "should of bought the german one" "beetles are better"
one day i'm gonna steal him walking stick then we will see whos laughing ha ha ha ha ha ah ha ha.... ha
Well just tell him that at his age he should be ashamed of recommending German cars.
Surely he's old enough to have remembered WW2?

Either way the New BEETLE uses good old Mini technology. i.e. a transverse mounted engine up front driving the front wheels.

Coulsnt have been more wrong, they all think the kids are great and they always ask what im on with when im in the garage.I do a few noisy jobs in there as well and they never bat an eyelid.Even when my 4x4 is left out on the street occasionally and drops mud all over the place after its been offroad they are ok about it.
Only brought my latest mini back to the house today though so time will tell how they react to that lol.

On the left I have a family with 4 kids, on the right I have no-one because the house has been bought but is being very slowly renovated. Across the road they knocked down 3 gorgeous Georgian detached houses with massive gardens to build a cul-de-sac (bastards!), but the developers have serious cash shortages so it has been a leveled building site for the past year.
The kids next door refer to my car as the "loud, cute one, that makes fire sometimes and sometimes it bounces when it goes over the speedbumps and we like it."
At uni I live next to students and two elderly brothers who both own Harleys so it doesn't matter how loud my Mini is because their motorbikes are always louder.

His son however can be a bit of a muppet and was treated to a barely silenced Rover V8 getting a tuning session after he started getting mouthy one weekend about the noise.... after he had been playing dance music all morning at stadium levels.
