STOP. It's update time!

First the dash.. it was looking a bit skanky, so I got some of the original finish crackle paint from Moss and repainted it.

As it was

Bare metalled and etch primed

Repainted, picture doesn't really do it justice!
Posted Image

Both rear quarters were pretty badly rusted where the wing meets the C pillar, rusted areas were bare metalled and sandblasted to get rid of any rust.

I had to skim over both rear wings with filler, they had been replaced in the past, seemingly by some optically challenged rhinocerous. The welds were fine, but they were "a bit rippled" to say the least.

Also bare metalled and sandblasted the front valance, it was a wee bit rusty and covered in thick stonechip, which looked naaasty.

I'm over half way done on the body now, just the wings scuttle and engine bay to go before primer. How exciting.

More nice work. It's going to be a stunner!

Excellent work as usual Mr PBP! The crackle finish paint you used on the dash - is it a single tin job or a 2-stage process? How easy is it to get an even 'crackliness'? (new word that <<<< I think >_< !)

It was just the one tin surprisngly! and worked really well. You apply two coats, leaving ten minutes between coats, then leave it for four hours before applying a final heavy coat. I guess the first two layers dry, and the solvent in the last coat softens them and causes a reaction. Someone at work who doesn't know about older stuff thought it had gone terribly wrong >_< Oh and I got it from Moss if you want some! TMF discount too!

Got a little done today, not as much as I had hoped, but meh.

Got both front wings and the scuttle straight and etched, just the engine bay to go!

Thanks for the info on the crackle paint - I think I'll have to get some when I get some other stuff from Moss,

Wow, it's bringing back memories for old Teapot. To think the (Bristol) garage took three months to straighten the front out of mine in '67 because they "couldn't get a replacement wing for such a rare car"!!? Wish you'd been around then, Peter!

and the beatles on radio one

Oh no, you've started me off again ... my B had a Motorola radio and I remember driving through Westbury on Trym with Penny Lane playing ...

*thinks* Not sure about Radio 1 though ... might have been Caroline. Penny Lane came out in Feb '67 but R1 didn't start till Sep '67.

Awesome work pete!!

How did you do the headlight ring repair? Did you weld the back ring in first, then the rest of the wing area?

Cheers.. yeah I made up the ring section and welded that in, then welded the side, and then the front bit over the ring. So 3 pieces.
