If it has been that colour from new then the paint code will be on the vin plate!
If not then your best bet would be to go to your paint supplier and get them to match it!

I went to Halfords to colour match mine.

They somehow managed to give me a tin of the correct colour (flame red), and a tin of rutland red which I believe is off a Land Rover?

No idea how they managed that. They gave me a free tin though.

3 for the price of 2! Bargain.

i dont seem to have one, think its been removed when the front was modified. does anyone have the same colour car? its a standard colour i believe. Wen't to halfords, but they were'nt very helpfull.

Found these stamped plates in the box of bits that came with the car. would any of these tell the paint code somehow?

VIN plates were only fitted from around 1984 - after van production had ceased so no vans have VIN plates. They do have chassis number plates but there is no paint code stamped on them or the large weight rating plate.

The top two pics show the weight rating plate and the chassis number plate and have matching numbers - this should also match the chassis number on the V5C. The third plate is also a chassis plate but doesn't belong to your van and the last pic is the commission number which seems to be an internal reference number used by the various companies that made up BL/Austin Rover/Whatever they were called that particular week. Very little documentation exists to relate commission numbers to anything useful as I understand it!

On the colour, it looks like it could be Pageant blue, but the best bet is to get it to a proper automotive paint factors (yell.com) and have them match the colour.

Cheers for the info. Went to halfords again today, to try to find the paint code but they were utterly useless. I did see some pagent blue on the shelf under the rover section looked similar, but seemed a bit lighter. not sure how good the representations are on the lids.

says its pagent blue. what do u guys reacon? think its a match? think mine looks darker, but could just be the lighting

in your pic it looks quite a bright blue, but if you say yours is a bit darker than pagent blue, might be the same as mine, JSA Electric Blue, there is a thread on paint codes on the forum somewhere!

think yours looks a lot darker than mine. the colour is the same on the inside of the car as the outside looks to be original.


here is the back of the other van vs mine. seems to be quite a reasonable match, hoping the slight difference might just be diffence in lighting.

i think it is called pageant blue bud it look like the coulor ov my cluby estate
