ive not had a problem with my engine start on the carb engine,

anyhow,

i dont use the remote enginestart if the engine is cold, ie outside the house when you get in , i start it normaly,

i use it when ive drove to the shop get out get what i need then walking back the car when everone is looking at it i start it, its kool.

Spoonz

just have to get the central door locking as i walk up to it started and then hav to unlock the door normaly, its borring,

the clifford door locking doesnt work very well on a slide lock (ie)_mini)

The point of them is so that on a cold winters morning you can start your engine from inside your warm house 10 minutes before you leave and you'll step inito a nice toastie de-frosted car.

Although it rather defeats the object when you put it on a mini, as you can't start it from a warm house on a cold winters morning as it doesn't work the choke for you. Must admit though, would be rather cool to remote start it in a car park or something (while the engine is still midly warm).

As long as you live in a safe area where no one will hear the engine note and jump in and drive off!

There is something built in like if the key isn't put in the ignition within 20 seconds then it cuts out and the alarm is reactivated, or something to that effect.

i had a remote start on mine - it was just a chepo thing i got off ebay, called mannix, it had the remote start built into the imobiliser. I was ace, walking upto the car and starting it before i got in it! Only prob with it is the remote was a bit naff (you get what you pay for) so now i've taken it out, because i kept having to disconnect it, to disarm the imobiliser.

Gonna get one again tho and have it properly fitted when i can afford it.

Oh - if your bored, drive into a busy town, put a big teddybear on ur driver seat, stand whey back and start the car - i did it and i was pissing myself for weeks! :- Did it when a bobby walked past it once, my god its worth it!!

Have fun! :1eye:

All good fun, especially if you leave the car in gear because the handbrake ain't too hot. Bye bye, car.
I have a sort of feeling that a remote engine starter on a public road or car park might land you in court. Something to do with having a car unattended with the engine running.

That one occurred to me, lol, and i always leave my mini in gear.

Someone asked about prices? A friend of mine has this installed on his VW Golf and i think it cost around £600, although he has about triple that in audio equipment so he can justify it I think. One thing though is that it comes with a lifetime warranty!
Once you start the car with the remote you have to put the key in before you can drive away in it, he asked me to have a go and if you pull off with the keys in your pocket it just cuts out.
