Okay, so i have this idea of all you people recording a video to get an idea of exhaust notes, for people considering what exhausts to buy.


unfortunately i have no video of mine at the moment, but if you think its a good idea then post up a link to your video and list what your exhaust is...


if you don't think its a good idea, then... well.... never mind.

problem is that the sound quality on most video recording equipment is rubbish!

You would have to specify more than just the exhaust though.

Air filters, carb type and engine size alsoplay a massive part in the sound.

But a good idea.

sounds good , i fitted an rc40 backbox and k & n filter recently and my spi sounds awesome, really mean ! will try to get a vid sorted

Ill try and get a vid up. iv got a maniflow system with a k&n element filter and a stainless fletcher 3" backbox, sounds gorgeous

the only problem i have is i have no idea what my exhaust is at all,

came with it when brought it,

i'll look through the details for things brought, by the prev. owner, if not i'll take some pics and i'm sure someone on here will be able to tell me..

Lil tip on the sound quality: place the camera 3-5 meters away from the car, still preferably behind it. The sound may be slightly quieter, but the quality should be allot better than most of these vids with people who put them right underneath the exaust.

It would be a novel resource for creative peeps too. You'd probably get the best results recording directly on to a laptop.

Maybe this helps a bit. It's in german, but engine specs should be understandable (K&N is the same in german )

Standard 998 mayfair, dont have a clue what the exhaust is.

If my mini was running i would get a better one, but its not so i cant

thought i would make a video of my 1380 engine sound , couldent help myself , nothing special exhaust wise , just a stage one exhaust i think . hopefully getting a large bore twin dtm.
engine spec is

A-series block bored to 73.6mm , cross honed and had new cam bearings fitted and reamed. 11 stud fitment.
Standard crank, balanced.
1275 con rods
AE Hepolite Triumph pistons with a 10cc dish
Steel centre main strap
Glacier Shell Bearings, Vandervell mains and big ends bearings
Minisport CA4 road/rally cam , same grind as the supersprint 544 camshaft
Piper cam followers
Mini Sport Oil Pump Spider Drive
Mini Sport Lightened Duplex Timing Gear & Chain Set
High Capacity Water Pump
MG METRO 1275cc A+ 12G940 BIG VALVE HEAD 36mm inlet valves and 31mm exhaust valves, 11 stud, Extra Strong Single Valves. Ports slightly polished.
