What cam is installed makes little difference, but it may adjust the gap to be measured.
The Gunsons Click adjust is a clever little tool, however the number of clicks will vary depending upon the pitch of the thread on adjustment screw for the rockers, one thing that you MUST do every time you use it is set it up on the first rocker, using a feeler gauge in the traditional manner. This is the only way to determine the number of clicks required, as you are converting a rotational value into a height, and as I said above this is all dependant upon the pitch of the thread.

The 'feel' on the feeler should be a resistance but not a bind or grab.... so you should be able to slide the feeler through what ever gap you are testing, but it being apparent that there is no loosness, one way to check is to put the next feeler up through the gap and it should either not fit or be tight.

I was wondering how long it would take someone with a watchful eye to point this out, as the first time I used the tool I had to work this out for myself.

are there any hints or tips for adjusting the valve clearances. i have tried once but i found it hard to determine when the valve was fully open/closed! in then end my car mini sounded the same.
thanks
Its always a good idea to check the rocker shaft & rockers for wear, as these can cause issues too.
