Not a lot done today, finished fitting and aiming the headlamps and also finished installing the fan belt and getting it all tightened up.

Lol, ya I always find it funny how all of us over here try to make our VWs are European as possible and you guys over there want North American parts :P

Ya, the wheels going on are 10x5s, but I still need to order the longer studs and get them powdercoated.

Progress from tonight. Got halted due to a knuckle joint, not wanting to come apart though. Hopefully I will be able to get it apart tomorrow or I will have to order a new one.

So I got the knuckle joint off the trumpet. Next hurdle is trying to get the top arm out. I got it off the ball joint, but its giving me issues.

Posted Image

The shape of the suspension right now with the bolts / nuts giving me issues. The bolt that goes through the top arm is called the pivot arm and it has nuts / lock washers on each side of it. I loosened the one on the right side first, but it didnt want to clear the gap between the pivot bolt and the fender well. So, I tightened it up and tried to remove the other side. The other side is off now, but the right side just spins now that the other side is off and I still have the clearance issue.

Posted Image

The next issue is the pivot arm shield, I was able to get the front side bolt out, but the back side is in such an awkward spot that I can't really get to it to be able to remove it. Once those are removed I can take the arm off supposedly.

Posted Image

You can just barely see it on the back side.

Finally got all of the suspension installed last Saturday. Didn't expect it to sit so high when I had it finished, as I had adjusted my trumpets down. But, I read that it is normal for them to do that before settling. Hopefully it will settle soon. The Lucas P700s work great, didn't fully realize how great the improvement would be over the sealed beams. All of the maintenance paid off too, she runs so much better and smoother now. More updates in the future once the suspension settles and I get my wheels redone.
