You all may have seen this already but in the episode Long John Peter there is a long car chase done like a pirate battle featuring none other than a mini!

One of the posh english characters who appear sporadically throughout the shows history is driving a nice green Mini complete with overriders! I really like the way thay have drawn the car it looks fantastic and it shows how much the mini is recognised as a British Icon. If this doesn't appear in Minis in the media in Mini Magazine they have really missed a trick!

Sweeeeet!

It was first shown about 10 months ago so it would have been in Mini Mag back then, around the time of the first thread of many about it on here! ;D

It's a great chase and it's a well drawn Mini but way out of scale compared to Peter's station waggon. Shame about the cargo of sugar cane, teas and spices.

If anyone here is a Doctor Who fan, then the special DVD release of the 1968 story 'The Invasion' starring Patrick Troughton as the 2nd Doctor who takes on the Cybermen in London is worth investing is, because 2 of the episodes were lost decades ago, but they replaced both those episodes with animation instead (they still had the full soundtrack), specifically for this amazing DVD release.

Anyway the reason for my ramblings is because one of those episodes features a rather nice animated Mini: -

Which the Tardis team thumb a lift into London in.

I don't know if the original film did actually feature a Mini though, but it's still very nice all the same, even though the bonnet stripes weren't really the thing for road going Minis back then (okay the story was supposed to be set slightly in the future, i.e. in 1975) and it's clearly a MKI Mini, although in one shot you can see MKIII door handles. Oh and the wing mirrors are probably wrong too?

Okay I'll just get my coat.

:- :D

I tried to look into this earlier today because I couldn't work out why I don't have Long John Peter on any of my DVDs. It turns out that the seasons of Family Guy in the US are completely different than they are over here. The episodes are in a completely different order and the seasons are all different lengths. Long John Peter is actually the last episode of the 6th season, which over here has been transmitted as the 7th season. Strangely though our season 7 on DVD is only the middle 14 of season 6 in the US so the last four of season 6 are the end of season 7 here as transmitted but we won't get Long John Peter on DVD until season 8 is released on DVD here. Confusing I know but it's something to do with the contract between Fox and the BBC.
