my choice of colour is swaying back to white again! i think the gold could look good, but also like gun metal grey rims.

hmmmmmm may end up going second hand rims yet so who knows.

tried to drop the rear subby today to fit the rear beam axle but 5 of bolts have seized :) tried using wd40 but with no luck so i've borroweda 24v impact gun from my brother and will give that a go tomorrow.

what pressure fuel pump do i need for the k series? i have a turbo one sitting in the garage but was wondering if i could return that as it cost about £100 and use a facet, then could put the money towards a fuel tank :D

haven't done much recently as been travelling visiting uni and spent the weekend at my mates in middlesbrough.

still haven't managed to get the subby off, a couple of the heads snapped of the studs and a few just rounded off so will drill/grind the head off tehn use a stud extractor. raqdius arms are off though so will begin to recondition those ready to go onto the beam axle.

ordering a bare subby from allspeed engineering which should save me some hassle of trying to build one, now to sort out thh wiring loom and source someone to make the custom driveshafts

was searching the tinternet through boredom and came across these

http://www2.obp.uk.n...91288e618185bed

from what i've read the k series means i will have to change my brake master cylinder and remove the servo, so was wondering if one of these would be useful? plus i think they look awesome lol

i have a slight problem. whilst removing the rear subframe yesterday 3 of the 4 bolts that hold the subby to the heelboard snapped! 2 snapped flush with the heelboard, and the head on the other. tried using a stud extractor on it today but it seems to be just spinning.

what should i do? is there anyway of just grinding off and welding new nuts on to the inside of the heelboard to replace them, or do i need to replace part of the panel?
help! need to fit the beam axle to get the shell rolling again.

got a few bits done lately.

stripped down and painted the radius arms, fitted new spindles, bleed nipples, thrust washers and rubbers.
Posted Image
still need to fit new shoes, superfins and braided lines

the rear seatbelt mounting points have been boxed in as they sit under the new flat boot floor
Posted Image

the rear subby front mounting points were a bit rusty so have been replaced along with part of the boxed area inside
Posted Image
looks like i need to re-tap one of the captive nuts as the thread was damaged during fitment.

the fuel filler cap has been filled in
Posted Image

Posted Image
i have skimmed it with filler to build up the shape but forgot to get more photos

some of the bulkead holes and the inner wing heater ducting intake hole have also been patched, the boot floor has now been seem underneath on the overlap and all of the interior sound proofing has been removed...but forgot to take pics of it all :P

got a few more bits bolted onto the radius arm: GAZ coilovers, goodridge braided hoses and KAD handbrake quadrants

Posted Image

was hoping to bolt on the beam axle and suspensions so i could get the shell on all for wheels again today, but its been held up by 1 nut. the thread on tone of the subby mountcaptive nuts got abit damaged when the mount repair panel was being fitted :D so cant get it bolted on until i get hold of a unf tap set and re-tap the nuts thread.

waiting on my allspeed front subby so i can start orting out mounting of the engine, and working out what needs moving/modifying.

been thinking about paint schemes for the project but cant make a decision. ideas so far are:

1) kawasaki green with blue arches (similar to the blue of cobra seats)
2) ford signal yellow (or another bright yellow)
3) bright orange and blue arches
4) original rose colour schem

or my brothers suggestion..

5) black with rose pink roof and arches, with rose decal in pink and 'lesbian' above it in scroll writing, like and evil rose lol

what do you think?

(could this be moved to the rover engine conversion section please)

looking good mate, realy cooking now!

hows the k series side of things coming along?

and all of those paint scemes woud look good but most have been done already.

i think you should go for something different - maybe black with the green arches and roof?

be bold!

still finding rust with each cut lol. quite drawn towards black with a outrageously bright highlighting colour on arches and roof. does black show up the imperfections more? thats my biggest worry with painting lol could always just laquer it as it is, show off all the layers of paint and filler :D

as for the k series side of things, can't do too much until get the frame and start mounting it. on the search for engineering companies to make the driveshafts, and started sorting out the mini and engine loom the other day to try and start splicing them together.

started mounting the digidash into the zcars dash yesterday, just need to work out if im using original switches or going for something different?

hows your clubby coming along? i should hopefully be starting to build a 998 for my clubby soon so may have a 1275 being freed up if your still after one at the time.

Luke im all ears if there a 1275 coming available! especialy if its a decent price and delivered!

black is a bit of a *woman of ill repute* for showing imperfections up mate! you could go matt black tho! lol

as for just lacquering it well aparently the rat looks in at the moment lol.

emailed a company about getting driveshafts made up for the k series conversion and this was the response:

"Morning Luke

I see from your e-mail, you have at last succumbed to the dark side – Welcome

Anyway, back to the shafts for your X-wing, as long as the pressure angles on the splines are either 37½ and 45 degrees, we are able to assist..."

what are the pressure angles and how do i find out what they are? unless anybody already knows the answer?

i have bothe the mini and k series drive shafts in the garage

cheers for the help
