So I have't really made any progress on the Rose lately as my funds and attention are currently on my other project, my '72 clubman!

 

Shell is currently with Endaf down at Owens Fabrications

 

 

Whilst it's there I've been buying/sorting parts and made a start on my first ever engine build......hopefully it doesn't blow up!

I got a bit over excited and bought a L2B ticket so i've only got a few months to get the old girl done. May be in a little over my head with this one! haha

So after spending a few awesome months doing a it of travelling around NZ and Oz I'm finally trying to crack on with mini stuff again!







Had a trip in a friends mini cut short in Perth.......



Had a trip down to Owens fabrications a few weeks ago to pay off my bill, see the clubman and pick up some more bits for the rose build


Lsd, subframe strengthening kit, rear ARB mount plates, engine storage port cover plates and Dash2 mount plate

Clubman is done so need to sort transport to bring it back then it's straight into paint at the local college bodywork department. Got a deal with them so bought a shell roll over jig which they'll keep.





Built up the front hubs for the Clubman, replaced pretty much everything except for the hub carrier casting and steering arm





Then checked they'd fit in the new rims



Replaced radius arms with some mini spares recon'd ones as my bushes were knackered



Other than that I've mainly been cleaning up and painting parts. I'm sure I've forgotten a lot as it's been a while since I updated but I should probably start a new thread for the clubman anyway.

On another note, my cousin lives in the British Virgin Islands and was caught in the hurricanes the other week. Saw this photo of her mini yesterday



Insurance have said they won't cover it either so they've got to try and find the money to rebuild it themselves! They only finished re-shelling it a couple of months ago!

Didn't realise it had been so long since i came on here!....

 

Not much has happened to be honest. Lost motivation really. Done a few odd bits and made myself some more work in between helping with their cars and life generally.

 

Bought a rad expansion tank and made up hoses 

 

Played with the exhaust back boxes to get them central and fitted the reverse megaphone

 

 

It sits pretty close to the fuel tank pot so will most like make up a heat shield/box for some protection

 

 

Finally fitted my 7.5" alloy 4 pots

Haven't been happy with the bulkhead and cage for a while so this happened......

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The subframes have also been removed but no more recent photos. Started on replacing the heelboard as it had some end repairs previously that i wasn't happy with. Once that is done, rest of the cage will be chopped out for an upgrade then I'll start on the rest of the bodywork that I'm not happy with.....

All a learning curve!

 

 

Alongside this, the clubman is now on the roll over jig and slowly being stripped back to bare metal, before a final few bits of welding and fresh paint. The roof rack has also been straightened and lacquered, with some wooden slats being made up for it to give a good base for luggage .
