Not much has happened lately as work has been rather busy now race season is underway.

With a bit of trimming the rad fits under the front end

DSC_0989_zpsmlvvhwbm.jpg

although it is a rather tight fit!

DSC_0966_zpshox42ee7.jpg

got a few more hoses sorted and started to re-position the oil cooler from down below for it's own protection

DSC_1111_zpsljy7yxyg.jpg

DSC_1108_zpsrvp1ugms.jpg

Think I'm going to move it to the other side in front of the water pump though so I have an empty space if I decide to use an air scoop/ram air setup later on

DSC_1110_zps86m1dfjf.jpg

Started fitting the mini spares adjustable camber/toe brackets

DSC_1156_zps3zx7m8w4.jpg

going to need a slight adjustment though....

DSC_1153_zpsn1hyvnek.jpg

Cut out the gear linkage housing mount from inside as having some threaded bosses welded on to the housing and so changing the mount. Also chopped of the subframe brace bar bulkhead mounts as moving them further out for more clearance for water pump etc.

On a different note started to strip a few bits off of the clubman as hoping to start work on restoring it at the end of the month and decided to poke it a bit with a screwdriver. I wish I hadn't.

What started out as a single hole in the sill became this....

DSC_1152_zps8nwsuh34.jpg

Also, probably a stupid question, but did mk3 shells have the hole in the tunnel for magic wand gearshift or could this be a left over mk2 shell that was used?

DSC_1150_zpsvx1iluud.jpg

found this plated magic wand hole under the carpets

Yeah I sold the k subby a while ago now mate.

I've done a few bits to it but problem is when you spend all week working on classic race cars, the last thing you really want to do is work on your own haha

I'll have a look through pics on my phone and try to get something together on what I've done/bought for it recently

If you've already got some in silver - continue with silver.

If you're starting your lines again from scratch - I'd go with pink.

What size are the oil hoses from Torques - AN8?

Cheers,
Ian

I've got braided silver lines connected to the callipers and drums at the minute but will probably replace them.
Looks like pink it is then....

Yes An8 mate.

Wow just had a good read of this build over my lunch some serious work has gone in to this build its mental, so glad your back on the a-series idea though a-series all the way for me, like the little nods your doing to the original Mini Rose. Watching this one cant wait to see it done it looks like it will a be a right weapon....

Not much has really happened I'm afraid. Bought a few bits but not really worked on the car. After a week of working on other peoples cars at work I never feel like going to the garage unfortunately.

Bought myself a birthday present back in December

IMG_20151229_174421_zps2w6z7fhu.jpg

Mini Spares 7.5"  alloy 4 pots, spacer kit, vented discs and new drive flanges. They still sit in the box waiting for the spacers to be fitted to the calipers....

A couple of months ago I bought a Race Technologies Dash 2

DSC_0001_23_zpsrfyxh3ic.jpg

DSC_0001_zpsocbg0sos.jpg

That also sits in its box in my bedroom..... Need to talk to my friend nicely about making a carbon dash binnacle for it

Halfords had a sale on the other month, I also had my trade card plus a discount voucher so had a little spending spree and bought a new tool box plus some new tools, hammers and torque wrenches

DSC_0002_22_zpsajxvsyhs.jpg

Haven't really used any of the tools since.....

I originally had some 1.5:1 roller rockers on the head for this build but I found out I'd have to reduce valve spring poundage or risk damage. So the 1.5s were moved on to the mk3 cooper s head for the clubman

IMG_20151205_150602_zpspc56uckt.jpg

and I purchased some MED 1.3:1 roller rockers

DSC_0005_zps3bir90ut.jpg

plus some one piece CNC'd push rods to go with them

DSC_0004_zpsmwwhdli4.jpg

Also purchased a Facet red top fuel pump with -6 fittings

DSC_0002_zpsl52rof9n.jpg

Need to have a sort through the garage and get rid of parts no longer required, like the +90mm fg front from the engine conversion stage still lurking in the back taking up valuable space

Spending most of my money lately buying parts to start the Clubman rebuild but I did manage to get a freebie from work to fit my fat arse in to easier....

DSC_0006_zpssaq7651k.jpg

Came from a customers race car and it's FIA approval date expired in December. Can no longer be used to race so talked the boss in to letting me make use of it  :D

Hi nice project and I like the use of pink.

I’d strongly advise not using the vx220 seat with harnesses I have a vx220 myself and it has been discussed at length on the various forums. The problem is the sloped shape of the shoulder pads causing the harnesses to slip apart, some people have put harness cut outs in them but there’s also a lot of debate around if the seats would cope with the loading caused on them by the harnessed in a crash.

You have negated the main problem with them though with the 6 point harnesses that is you can submarine out from under them due to the low down seating position in a vx220. There was quite a nasty crash on the vx forum some time ago where one was T-boned by a seat Leon and had the whole front end ripped off and the driver submarined out from his harness and was thrown from the car, as you can see in the photo the drivers harness (left hand drive car) is still fastened.

716577_m3w900h600q75v46633_IMG_5207.jpg

Anyway I’ve been waffling a bit but my point is these seats aren’t designed for harnesses, yours may be alright with 6 point harnesses but it’s probably not worth the risk. I’d just use a small bucket seat that’s designed for harnesses.

I don’t mean to be all preachy I just wanted to make sure you have the necessary information, the rest of the work is great and I’ve enjoyed reading through your build thread.

Thanks for the info, but no need to worry as I don't plan to use this seat anymore. Just been putting all funds in to the other car project so haven't got round to buying another seat. Main problem is I'm rather limited for space so would have to be something like a kit car seat, a kirkey or a Tillett. Would love a Tillett but I doubt funds would allow it! (and all of the ones in the race cars a work are still in date :'( )

Haven't really touched this lately as been focused on other things will hopefully get back on it soon and give an update
