looks like i'll be going for a fg boot floor now haha
also made a turret strut out of 40mm box, was going to use cds but this will make it easier to mount the ARB off of it

also forgot to say, i lightened the gear lever mount a bit the other week

came back from uni the other day for a couple of weeks, so instead of work and revision i decided to spend some time on the mini.....

haven't got any welding gas at the minute so just doing some prep work and other little jobs at the minute.

cut out parcel shelf and rear seat to make it easier access to weld in the rear turret strut brace and the roll cage bars to the turrets

been tidying up areas where i've cut old bits out, cutting holed for ARB drop links etc so no photos of that.

been making my polycarb windows over the last day or so. they have a few marks and the odd scratch on them but can't complain as was given the sheets of it for free. bit thicker then what you buy i think, its about 1/4" thick.

I sold my Gibson the other week and finally got the money for it on saturday. put it in the bank yesterday morning and within an hour pretty much every penny of it had been spent....
on the up side i got a nice box of bits today from rally design :D

I'm in the same boat buddy. Doing assignments/dissertation/revision is definitely not as fun as making sparks and swarf.

Do you find that the coilovers allowed you to lower it a lot more then the conventional hi-lo set up man?
Cheers.

erm to be honest i cant remember haha its been a while since it was on hi los at the front. from what i do remember you can get the rear lower with hi-los than coil overs as it wasn't that long ago i changed back to hi-los on the rear. i am considering going back to cones,hi-los and dampers at the front as i'm not keen on the coilovers top arm mounts. also if you go low, with the standard mounts the coil catches on the top mount bolts so the bottom of the coilover has to be moved out.

Also considering one of these, as my solenoid hits the frame a bit and they are around half the price of a brise:

got some pics and dimensions from the comapany but haven't got anything to compare them against

Also i've sorted my sandwich year placement for uni and i'll be moving back home for year, so should be able to crack on getting this together. hopefully.
just need to make sure i pass this year now.

actually got something useful done today!! took my steering column into uni today and sliced through the steering rack mount. knocked it off with a hammer to reveal the splines.

Posted Image

fit nicely into the escort group 4 UJ which then fits directly onto the rack

Posted Image

just need to get the pinch bolt slot machined in now. Also ordered a Racetech quick release steering wheel boss so will get that welded on when it arrives next week hopefully

cheers mate, still seems to progress very slowly no matter how much time is spent on it haha

as for paint etc, originally it was going kawasaki green but came quite common so that went out the window. did consider the rat looks and just painting bare metal and leave it at that but as i know there were only 500 roses built i've decided to put it back to white and rose pink roof, but with a couple of changes. i'm going to paint the grille and arches pink as well. possibly bumpers if i end up fitting them.

also noticed the other day force racing do their 10" splits with pink centres.....

So are you using MS and ITBs in this then?

I've just settled on MJ and bike carbs for my K series swap, should be interesting.

Nice work.

well if i can ever work it out and get it started then yes haha although with the problems i have been considering recently, if i ever had the money, about buying an emerald ecu instead and selling the ms. Emerald already have maps for most setups on a k series so should be more plug and play, which is useful when you have no idea of where to start with mapping.

hopefully with carbs yours will be a bit easier.

cheers
