if your rents want you to have it make them buy it for you and pay for the fitment :)
just pretend that you dont want one (but dont be too convincing)

And for the increase in your insurance premium .... thats assuming your company will entertain the notion.

Mine dont charge anything extra for having one.

thats good to know

hi, both of the cages are more what i call "show cages" meaning that they wont much, i have been to the Huddersfield mini centre and even he said that it is more of a show cage. i have done quite a lot of research into them and found that safety devices cage in mine. it is a good solid cage and it is F.I.A approved.

but i depends on what you want. im not saying that the others will not do anything in a crash but i have crashed in one i had an it was nasty an the cage helped me to say the least, i think spending on safety i a good investment. check my new safety devices cage out:

hope this helps

Well i will ring them both up and see, i am on a small buget, so cant afford a safety device cage, well yer thats why i want after my crash, cheers for the advice usefull :)

quick quote from globule

"a scaffold pole in my eyes."

blimey thats gotta hurt :D

sorry couldnt resist :)

Just re-read that, does sound a bit strange :(

Insurance wise, mine cost me something like £8 for harnesses and the safety devices rollcage! I'm only 20 which i think was still unusually cheap!

I am on a classic policy i should add, not sure if that makes a difference!

Regarding the cages, i still would go for a better one, even if you get a second hand one off ebay! The issue is with show cages, they are for show and may break in a crash (meaning you get more rollcage in the eye) whereas i cant see the safety devices one breaking in a hurry, i just measured a piece of it and the wall of the tube is 4mm thick :)

I was in your situation a few months back and just went with the idea of: If your spending £100/£160 on a new one, why not add a bit more and get a proper one even if it has already been used or something? I know you say your on a budget but its worth it in the event of a crash! (although rollcages are a bit unnecessary for road use i think, slightly hypocritical :D)

hi i bought a std six point with a rear cross and a harnessbar under cross from geronimo cages
fitting them to your car is quite a job you need a ratchet strap to pull the legs of the cage in to pass the rear side buckets (2 persons would be ideal to do it ) and a few work needs to be done to get the front hoop and the rear together (roof bars need cutting to lengh)

and its a nackering and stressfull thing to put in cost 260 inc fitting kit its ok for a show cage i suppose and mabe crash too not like your going to go very fast in a standard mini to turn it on its roof and then needs painting too
