I have a fast water leak from my mini, Ive took the alternator and everything off, and it looks to be coming from the back of the water pump.
Is there a gasket behind the pump when you take it off? If so where can I buy one, Ive looked on the net and cant find any.

Hey,
Ill pick up a new water pump sometime this week then.
Cowboy, I checked all the hoses I could see, it looks to be coming from the back of the water pump. Ill have another check though before I go buying a new pump,
Thanks everyone,

The byepass hose is about 5cm long and is tucked rite up under the head so you may not see it without taking your rad off... They are a b****rd to do too. Easyest way is to take the pump off...

don't go wasting your money by buying a new water pump when all you need is a gasket, if need be they can be made..all you need is some good card, and some instant gasket, it does the job well, alternativlly if you don't have instant gasket use hylamar. works wonders.. :wales:

How long would you think that instant gasket would last?. At the moment I dont have much money and I like the sound of making my own gasket, hehe.
When I get some money coming in, I need to replace the front subframe, I can always go around and fix everything ive bodged when the engine is out, and replace the parts properly, hehe.

if you make the gasket yourself and use the right instant gasket to go with it, it will last as long as a new gasket would, if you were to buy one..
the best one i use is a loctite instant gasket 574.. its orange and should be able to pick up art most good suppliers......
