Companion Box closing panels 14A8994 and 14A8995. Welded to inner floor panel.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I've got a question.

I understand that A is the inner sill/floor pan.

B I understand is this panel...



C is what I don't understand?? Would the original pressing have just be a part of B?

C is a closing plate spot welded to the top of the inner sill to give it some rigidity/strength. Heres one:-
