i really like the dash setup but i think that if you put 3 smaller ones in the same place with the same spacing as dash clocks it would look even better :)

first off, I want to say thanks for an amazing post! very informative and just what I was looking for.

but to my point (question!) how did you determine the sizes for the MDF/template? I've just been out and done some (admittedly rough) measurements and they are a bit different to what you have. are all mini dimensions the same? I measured from side to side (top & bottom) and several places along the length. did you just measure them too, or are they taken from some 'official' source?

I have found out recently that the Mini Thirty top and bottom rails are infact different from the other minis, this is why a fitted dash does not fit properly, so i made one myself, so it is best to measure it yourself and even if you make it bigger than you need, it means you can then cut it down to size. Hope this helps

didnt think they were different, you just have to slacken off the nuts that hold the top rail in, theres 3 or 4 nuts depending on the year, plus some of the dashes you can buy are poo, even genuine rover ones are an arse to fit sometimes...

like what you done with the guide, i made a similar dash ages ago, but moved the 2 clocks more to the centre, so that a speaker could mount directly in front of each seat. downside was the headunit had nowhere to go except nearer to the passenger side, but a remote sorted that out.
