But after sanding it back to the primmer and putting another 3 coats of paint on it now looks like this.
(Soz I got the cable for the light in the way)

Well I’ve put on another 3 coats of the green, just need to wait for it to harden and the white sprit to evaporate before I can wheel it out of the garage and turn it round to do the same on the other side.
Could be fun though as the doors busted and only goes up half way, but just about enough for the mini to fit under. No point in having a new one fitted which i can’t afford, as it will only be busted again in a few months.

Although now seeing the green on the car and imagining the cream ish while wheels against it, I’m torn between painting the roof green or in the same white as the wheels…. Although I did happen to spot a BRG bmw mini with a white roof drive past the top of the road, don’t know if I’m seeing things or it’s a sign…

My weeks progress, got the drivers side painted and have started putting the glass back in, with the exception of the windscreen as it’s gone milky round the edges and started to de-laminate, so will be needing a replacement.

So all need to do now is prep, prime and paint the doors, make and fit my windows and hopefully it will then be watertight enough and secure to be left outside while I spruce up the other mini.

I’m putting off painting the front end for now as I still want to do some more work on it and I’ve got a replacement boot lid lined up.

Well, I haven’t really done much recently other than paint the doors and hang them, as I’m still waiting for my sheets of polycarb to turn up so I can cut my sliding windows, to make it water tight (well for a mini)

But at least now I can keep myself occupied by repairing the mk1boot lid I picked up from Bingley.

My sheet of polycarbonate turned up earlier in the week, so I’ve been cutting it up to size using the templates I’m made earlier...

And some general picks...

great stuff dude, I like the rat look boot lid O_O :)

I don’t see much point I wasting paint, so I’ll leave it in primmer for now and repair and paint the mk1 lid.
Quite how I’m going to repair it though I haven’t quite fingered out, as the bottom is a little rustier than previously thought, but oh well can’t really go wrong for a tenner.

Should be ready to shift this one out side and get the other one in, as I’ve got the front screen in (eventually) and painted the roof.

Just read this topic from start to end. Looks awesome.
I didnt see you mention a colour name but looks VERY similar to Jarva Green, which is a LOVELY colour.
Personally I think the roof should go Black. Would really set of the green against the white of the wheels.
Keep up the good work Karl.

Cheers, the bonnet vent/s (still need to do the over half of the bonnet) was a bit of an after thought as there was a rather large dent in that area of the bonnet. I originally wanted some pressed vents, but found that might have been expensive/hard to do. So I spotted the old passenger side inner wing just sitting there on the scrap pile, and decided to chop out some of the vents and weld then in to the bonnet.

Well the Mayfair is now back in the garage again and today’s progresses has been re-paring the rusty mk1 boot lid. After chopping out the worst of the rot along the bottom and welding in a new section, welding a few patches over the larger dents to save on filler and welding up the odd hole, a lick of primmer later and hears the result.

Not bad considering I only originally paid a tenner for it

Well what da know, unfortunately I haven’t really touched the mini for a good few months and has been basically gathering dust since my last post.

Manly due to lack of time, a relationship (which didn’t work out) and the temperamental 25 only needing a coil, 2 head gaskets, a new cylinder head, water pump, radiator, timing chain and tensioner, the ball joints looking at a new tyre, exhaust system and an mot.

Although the odd bit’s have done since, have included are chopping off the lower part of the front valance and playing around with a chopped down front valance to give a smother look and something for my idea of a subtle spoiler to attach and blend into.

Chopped out the middle bit of the bulkhead for clearance for the carb/air filter to sit into and the drivers side air vent for clearance for the clocks/dash.

Other than that I’ve done nothing else to it and the other downer is I stupidly nicked a few parts off/for the Mayfair to fix both the 25 and the ex gfs mini, so now need to re-buy parts I already had. :)
