I still haven’t tried turning it over /starting it yet, as I haven’t got round to buying another battery to save swapping with the 25 and probably killing it in the process.

I’ve also now discovered that the heater leaks, as my front foot wells had filled up with lovely blue coolant. So I’ve temporally by passed the heater and just fed the hose straight from the inlet manifold in to the bottom hose.

On the plus side I did managed to spend £91 exactly at Malvern on a few items, but I have also sold the 10” Wellers I had planned on swapping with the 12’s and a spare gearbox to help with the funds.

But I ended up buying a roll of under felt for £7, which I’ve used to cover the front and rear floor pans. The rear section isn’t quite big enough, but I’ll do.
[attachment=104151:HPIM3461.jpg][attachment=104152:HPIM3464.jpg]

A set of plain black carpets for £30, I test fitted the front and rear sections and they seam to fit pretty well.
[attachment=104153:HPIM3459.jpg]

A spi type used heater cable for £2 with an unwanted switch panel as well.

A pair of genuine rover pedal rubbers, 4 washers jets (2 are for the 25) and some rubber things for the boot lid for £15

An engine stabiliser bush kit for a £1 as I kind of messed up one trying to fit it

A flasher relay, 2 sump plug washers for the servo banjo bolt on the manifold and some roll pins (saves looking round the floor if I lose one) for £7

Another vacuum hose for 50p as the rubber ends on the one I have are really soft, even considering it’s new.

A centre exhaust bracket for £3.50 which I’ll modify Laters, another carb spacer for a £1 as my previous one cracked and another gear rod bush thing for 50p, as with the current one fitted even with it in gear you would be mistaken to think it was still in neutral with the amount of play. So hopefully that will tighten the gear rod mechanism up and remove the unwanted play.

A pair of wiper blades for £9, an off cut roll of black vinyl for £4 and some edging trim for various bits for another £10

And apart form making up the under felt, I’ve also used up some of the left over roll of black carpet I used to carpet the rear seat bulkhead and parcel shelf to do the full cross member.
[attachment=104158:HPIM3465.jpg]

Just got a couple of clamps and some wood to hold it till the glue goes off.

Well I’ve pulled apart and temporally fixed the leaking heater matrix, another job I didn’t want to do, but at least it hasn’t cost me anything. It appeared to hold water while left overnight, so I’ll have to wait and see if it still pees all the coolant back into the foot wells when fitted.

Well I got a nice surprise today, I’d bought an internal aerial off e-bay for not much including postage. As I’ wasn’t keen on having a external one for a few reasons and that I’ve also had quite a few normal ones snapped off in the past.
Still a bit sceptical weather or not it would actually work or not, but for the cost it was cheap enough to find out.

Well it turned up and I quickly tested it out in the 25 with it just laid on the dash shelf and the powered connections left disconnected, but even without the power connections it worked quite well if not better than the external one on the wing.

So it’s now been fitted to the top of the windscreen behind the rear view mirror on the Mayfair. The power lead that came with it is a little on the small side, but shouldn’t be much of a problem. Just need to find a suitable sticker to go on the outside of the screen to cover the main bulk of it and then it shouldn’t be all that visible.

I’ll hopefully take some picks tomorrow when I get round to fitting the carpets for good.

Carpets are now in, some teaser picks as I’ll take some proper ones once the door cars and stuff are done. Then I can pull it out side and give everything a good wash and hover.
[attachment=104323:HPIM3498.JPG][attachment=104324:HPIM3495.JPG]

And a pick of my radio aerial I’ve just fitted, once I find a suitable sticker to go on the outside I’d should be hardly noticeable.
[attachment=104322:HPIM3491.JPG]

Just need a permanent head unit now, been borrowing the one out of the 25, I either need to be lucky enough not to be out bit at the last minuet or stop being so tight.

But then all the basic ones I’ve seen seam to go for quite a bit and the newer all singing/dancing ones for hardly anything. Thought it would be the other way round, but sure I’ll find something.

Door cards done, ended up just gluing and recovering the original Mayfair ones, as I couldn’t even give them away a few months back.
And door pockets are sort of sort of sorted, still need to drill a few more screw holes and paint up the drivers side one.

Still got the passenger seat left to fit, they don’t look much but what they lack look looks they make up for in comfort.

[attachment=104402:HPIM3523.JPG][attachment=104403:HPIM3529.JPG]

Also some picks of my cheap headlining as i really did over order on the fleace (bulk deal), still works out cheaper to have too much left over tho.

Just finished up recovering the sun visors in the same fabric as the roof so it all matches. So they are now ready to fit along with the passenger seat, which is also done.

Just some pocket liners to make up and cover and that’s the interior all done.

I’ve pretty much moth balled the project, just haven’t got the energy or enthusiasm for it anymore.

Thanks for the offer but I’ve found one now thanks to my persistence on e-bay, as for some reason I’ve got a collection of all fully working head units, but there all tap players.

Still on the look out for a decent battery/s though so I can see if it wants to start up and run, the crappy Halfords one I was using is now in the 25. As the supposedly really good make exide one (one of the few decent things the Mayfair came with) I had been using in the 25 went flat, got to about 75% charged and just dumped it all again and has been flat ever since.

So is of only any use as a doorstop till I can be bothered to take it down the tip, but then the Halfords on in the 25 seams to be a bit temperamental so could be on it’s last legs as well.

Thinking about it the 25 is probably due and oil change (3rd time this year) now the crank, bearings, oil pump and gearbox have bedded themselves in. Just hoping there isn’t going to be any extra bits of metal in it again this time.

Just picked up a decent battery I’d won on e-bay, £30 fro a new 60ah 075 battery can’t be bad even if it did mean a 80ish mile round trip. But the 25 behaved it’s self, so it might get a wash in the week as it’s looking a little yucky now. But all that’s left to do on the mayfair is connecting it up, checking the fluids and trying to fire it up for the first time.

I managed to find some energy to do something today, was a nice and toasty 7 degrees in the garage.

Finished up welding a small patch in the boot witch I’d started and forgotten about and welded a load of washers in the various oversized holes in the boot lid. So now once they are ground down, I can drill the holes out and use a grommet for the wiring to pass though that isn’t 4 times bigger than the wiring. :thumbsup:

That’s about as much as I go done though, as it went from a toasty 7 degrees to - 4 and snowing.

Not really that long to be honest, it’s complete as far as being a mini goes. I’ve still got to drop the battery in, topping up the oil and starting the engine for the first time, going round and bleeding the brakes, final spanner check/greasing of the suspension a quick brush of paint, finishing off the front end and my inner wings, tidying up a few little lose ends and the final last coats of paint, refitting a swapping some bits of trim and its pretty much done.

I’ve also need to source another heater matrix, as despite the cooling system being filled with enough antifreeze, it hadn’t had a chance to mix properly. So turned a little slushy with the already repaired hater matrix taking the worst of it.

I had been thinking of sorting out the garage and having a good clearout, but I was looking for some decent plastic storage boxes. I nicked one that was a bit broken off the ex to keep my tools in at the time, but I’ve since been unable to find any like it. As cardboard doesn’t last long and all the plastic boxes I seam to find are the overpriced flimsy transparent ones.
