Just like everything else to start with on this mini, I didn’t really like the standard dials too much. But replacing them with something else would have been expensive (for me) and the pre made dial kits are expensive in my opinion.
So the option I came up with was to dismantle the standard dials, remove the steel faces and scan them in to use as templates. To which I then e-mailed the templates and a rough pick of what I would have liked to a mate who then used a well know photo-editing program to make up the new dial faces.
Once he had finished working his magic, all that was left for me to do was to print them out on decent photo paper, laminate them, fit them and paint up the needles with some left over model paint.
So my one off dials, which as they are just laminated paper are also a lot brighter than standard ones lit with the standard bulbs, cost me the price of the paper, ink in the printer, the laminating pouch, a ticking off for nicking a fork to remove the needles, some left over model paint and a few evenings of my time.

Finishing up some more of the wiring, boring but needs must.
Welding a bracket to the front subframe, Which just so happens to be a spacer from an old lcb clamp Lol. This is so can now use a spare T piece connector rather than the inline one that’s got knackered threads.
I’ve still got to do the front section (currently a garden wire cane so I get the length and bends right and the ones for the servo, before I pull that back off and paint it up.
And cleaning up and fitting my throttle pedal extension that I’d picked up at one of the shows for a £1 ages ago to the throttle pedal. Even if it did mean I had to cut down the foot of the pedal and drill it, just need to paint it up and refit it for good now.
Although I’ve now got most of the missing bits for the engine, so I might start on building that for a change from wiring and bodywork shortly.
Plus I’m also on the look out for a cheap black carpet set (new or used I’m not fussed) mostly the front and rear, plush front wheel arch sections, as the rest I’m making from my rolls of carpet.

Although I’ll have to go back over the rear as I’ve since spotted some dints and one of the arches, as there’s a crack that need sorting. But considering this is just basically straight from the tin with no thinners, roller and then onto the car, it’s turned out pretty good.
Just have the rest of the car to do now, already made a start on trying to get all of the front-end steel work looking straight.
Almost done the same with the mk1 boot, I’ve just been guide coating it with the left over cans I have from spraying areas of the ex’s mini, hence being red and not green, but every little helps right now.
Unless there’s anyone out there with an 86 red Mayfair after some paint Lol, I’ve got a few spare unused cans, but no receipt and it’s not like they will get used any other way.
And with the boot fitted to the mini and first coat of green, although it still needs some minor filling in some areas before any more coats of green can go on.

I've got a 1985 Mayfair in Targa Red, (I think), that needs bits repainting!

And this is why, the replacement door I bought turned out to be rotten and full of filler, although the bottom inner frame was still solid.
Could probably of still used it, but for the sake of doing things properly, I thought I might as well if a new door or cheap skin came up.
And some overall ones of it next to the daily 25
